CREATING A NEW TYPE OF LENINIST PARTY
Questions on the theory and practice of Marxism
CREATING A NEW TYPE LENINIST PARTY
AT THE VI PRAGUE CONFERENCE ON IN 1912
The struggle between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks, Trotskyites, Otzovists, Ultimatumists and other opportunistic groups in the RSDLP, marching throughout the period of the Stolypin reaction, had by the beginning of 1912 reached its limit. The Mensheviks considered defeat of the revolution of 1905-1907 as a confirmation of their own views that the proletariat can not be leader of the revolution. They assigned this role to the liberal bourgeoisie. The Mensheviks deemed the revolution in Russia to be complete. The opportunism of the Mensheviks, their betrayal of the goals of the revolution took the form of the liquidators. On the pages of their newspaper ("The Voice of the Social Democrat") they demanded the elimination of the illegal revolutionary party. The Liquidators rejected the program as well as the organizational and tactical foundations of the RSDLP. They called upon the workers to reconcile with the tsarist government, to renounce the revolutionary struggle against the autocracy and the bourgeoisie. The leaders of the liquidators were Potressov, Axelrod, Dan, Martov, Martynov and others.
The Mensheviks- Liquidators adapted to Stolypin's "constitutional order" and called for the establishment of a legal, supposedly workers’ party. In mockery, the workers called the Liquidators the "Stolypin Workers’ Party." The aim of the liquidators was to create in Russia a party of a II International type, with vague liberal program, without clear organization or certain Marxist policies. The ranks of these parties were filled with open opponents of Marxism and socialism – i.e. opportunists. They put up with each other in the name of party unity. As soon as the Liquidators demanded the liquidation of the CC RSDLP, then even Bolsheviks who had earlier doubted quickly understood that any further formal presence of Bolsheviks in the same party with the Mensheviks was unthinkable.
The Bolsheviks now had the task to actually break with the Mensheviks once and for all and to expel them from the party. This task was to be carried out at the VI Party conference, which was being prepared by the Bolsheviks. The Conference would not only solve the problem of the break with the Mensheviks, but also having broke with them to create a new party at the same time, a party of a new type, and different from the conventional social-democratic parties in the West, free of opportunist elements and capable of leading the proletariat in the struggle for power.
The Bolsheviks could not but see that, after the death of Engels, Western European social democratic parties began to degenerate from parties of social revolution into parties of "social reform", and each of these parties, as an organization, had already been transformed from a leading force into an appendage of their own parliamentary faction. The Bolsheviks saw and understood that the proletariat needs a new, real Marxist party that would be irreconcilable towards opportunists and revolutionary towards the bourgeoisie, and which would be united and monolithic, a party of social revolution, a party of the proletarian dictatorship. The Bolsheviks wanted to have just such a new party.
In June 1911, at a meeting of the Central Committee of the RSDLP who were abroad in Paris, it was decided to convene an All- Party Conference. On the proposal of Vladimir Lenin, G.K.Ordzhonikidze was sent to Russia for the organization of work on the convening of the conference. Ordzhonikidze travelled to the industrial centres of the country and informed others about the decision of the Central Committee to convene a party conference. This proposal was supported.
The VI All-Russian Conference of the RSDLP was held between the 5th and 17th January 1912 in Prague. More than 20 party organizations were represented there - almost all organizations operating in Russia. So the Congress indeed mattered. With the exception of two Mensheviks - the composition of the party delegates was made up of Bolsheviks. V.I. Lenin led the work of the conference, presented papers on all issues on the agenda, and formed the drafts of the resolutions.
The most important thing was to cleanse the party conference of opportunists. The resolution "On Liquidationism and the group of Liquidators" stated that the behaviour of the Liquidators had finally placed themselves outside the party. Thus Prague Conference brought about an actual break with the opportunists to the formal organizational break by expelling them from the party.
The Prague Conference elected a Bolshevik Central Committee of the Party. The CC now included V.I. Lenin, J.V. Stalin, G.K.Ordzhonikidze, Y.M. Sverdlov, S.S. Spandaryan and others. Stalin and Sverdlov were elected to the Central Committee in absentia, as they were in exile. Among the candidates elected to the Central Committee were M.I. Kalinin, E.D. Stasova, and S.G. Shaumyan. A centre was established to guide the revolutionary work in Russia (the Russian Bureau of the Central Committee), headed by J.V. Stalin. The Russian Bureau of the Central Committee also included Y.M. Sverdlov, S.S. Spandaryan, G.K. Ordzhonikidze and M.I. Kalinin. The Prague Conference summed up the whole preceding struggle against opportunism by the Bolsheviks, having expelled the Mensheviks from the party.
Lenin wrote to Maxim Gorky about the outcome of the Prague Conference in early 1912: "We have finally managed – without the Liquidator scoundrels, to revive the party and its Central Committee. I hope you will rejoice with us in this." (Lenin, Vol. XXIX, p. 19 (Russian)). Stalin highly appreciated the importance of the Prague Conference. He wrote: "This conference was of the utmost importance in the history of our party, because it put a line between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks and unified the Bolshevik organizations across the country into a single Bolshevik Party." (Verbatim Report of the XV Congress of the CPSU (b ), pp. 361-362 ) .
By waging an uncompromising struggle against the opportunists, cleansing the proletarian party from the defilement of opportunism, the Bolsheviks created a new type of party, the party of Lenin, the party, which won the dictatorship of the proletariat.

WORKERS’ AND PROTEST MOVEMENT
Overview of the labour movement ( 1 - 15 January 2014)
Strike action in Sochi
Workers building the pipeline for the gasification of the Adler district for the Winter Olympic program, since before the New Year have not received wages promised by December 25.
Shift workers were unable to return to their families and went on strike.

Sverdlovsk mashzavod (Luhansk region) announce an indefinite strike
Sverdlovsk machine factory workers are demanding repayment of wage arrears. In response, on January 15 they were once again barred from their workplaces by being prohibited from entering the territory of the factory. People came out to protest at the city Council buildings and city prosecutor's office.
This situation at "SMZ" has been continuing January 3 this year. At that time, the company’s security barred more than 50 workers at the machine works from entering. Some of them received their employment records, in which an entry was made for dismissal for absenteeism . The workers then decided to start an indefinite protest action.
"This reaction by the administration of the enterprise is caused by the workers demanding compliance with the labour collective socio- economic security. It's about redemption of debts on wages and related payments, payment of the estimated amounts for those who were dismissed from the factory and ensuring safety standards"- commented the union on the situation.
The prosecutor carting out the investigation into the factory also could not get into the factory. Security would not allow them onto the territory.
The director of the plant is demanding the workers abandon their own demands and protest actions. Only then will they be allowed back on their jobs. Those who agree, then their salary will be repaid in part, and with a delay of at least 60 days.
The workers have declared an indefinite strike.

Police break up a demonstration in Athens
Athens police used tear gas against school security guards who blocked traffic in the city centre to protest against their impending layoffs.
The guards, who held a demonstration outside the Ministry of Administrative Reform and e-government, blocked traffic lanes on both the central avenues of the Reina Sofia.
Last summer, about 2,000 guards were transferred to eight months in the so-called labour reserve whilst retaining 80 % of their salaries. In March of this year, most of them should be fired under commitments taken by Greece to international lenders to withdraw from the public sector 11,000 employees. It is assumed that a total of only about 400 former school security guards will work in the public sector: 300 of them become cleaners in hospitals and another 100 people who speak foreign languages, will be transferred to museums to work.

Ongoing strike in Chilean ports
Workers' strike in the Chilean port of San Antonio continues from January 5 (at time of writing). Port workers are demanding compensation for daily 30-minute meal breaks.
In the region of Antofagast, a strike is taking place by workers in the port of Mejillones Angamos, which has lasted for more than 20 days. The protesters are demanding higher wages by 15%.

In Tunisia, a strike is held by public utilities workers
Rubbish removers from 17 municipalities in Tunisia went on strike to protest against poor working conditions. According to the country's largest trade union UGTT, over 6000 rubbish removers in the capital region went on strike.
Branch trade union representatives allegedly in October 10, 2013 reached an agreement with the government, which led to an increase in compensation to employees. But the general secretary of the subdivision of the rubbish removers’ UGTT union Nasir Al Salmi argues that the government is not adhering to their part of the agreement.

IS BELARUS THE "PARTISAN REPUBLIC" - NOW SEEKING TO BECOME A SPRINGBOARD OF ZIONIST FASCISM?
Documents of the CC AUCPB
AUCPB STATEMENT
From the Bureau of the Central Committee of the AUCPB for Belarus and Kaliningrad region
Fascism is the most reactionary, open terrorist form of dictatorship of financial capital, that is established by the imperialist bourgeoisie to suppress the working class and all progressive elements in society, as a means to save capitalism. The ideology of fascism is militant anti-communism.
Zionism is the ideology, politics and system of organization by the major Jewish bourgeoisie, coalesced with the imperialist circles in the West, primarily the United States. Zionism is one of the most militant detachments of imperialist reaction and occupies openly anti-communist and anti-Soviet positions.
It was not in vain that Belarus in the Soviet Union and today also, still continues to be called the "partisan republic." After bleeding and losing one in four of its people during the Nazi occupation in 1941 and 1944, the Soviet Republic became a real stronghold, a symbol of guerrilla struggle against the fascist invaders.
In the most tense moments of the war - in times of battles for Moscow, Stalingrad and the Caucasus, Belarusian partisans not only decisively and tactically took action against enemy communications, resisting the enemy, preventing the fully and timely provision of its striking forces with military equipment and weapons, ammunition and fuel, clothing, food and human resources, but also fettered with active fighting the large military contingents vital to the Wehrmacht. From June 1941 to July 1944 alone, Belarusian partisans had knocked out more than 500 thousand soldiers of the Wehrmacht along with officials from various occupational groups. More than 300 planes were damaged and burned on airfields, and more than 1,300 tanks and armoured vehicles destroyed. More than 11 thousand enemy trains were derailed.
After the liberation of Belarus Soviet Socialist Republic (BSSR), more than 180 thousand former guerrillas joined the ranks of the regular Red Army In the postwar years, the Belarusian Soviet Republic was rebuilt by the entire Soviet Union. The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ ), the Minsk Tractor Works ( MTZ ), Belarusian Autoworks (BelAZ ), Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ), "Belaruskali" and other industrial giants and industrial enterprises and agricultural sectors were erected by the will and hands of the Soviet people on their brotherly Belarusian land.
In those years, it seemed that the word "fascism" that became so blasphemous would not sound out within a country most affected by the Nazis during WWII.
But unfortunately - no! That isn’t the case any longer!
The current bourgeois leadership of Belarus - "the committee for managing the affairs of the entire class of the bourgeoisie" - the apt definition of Marx and Engels - this committee believing and observing "loyalty to the best historical traditions of the Soviet Union" in words, but in reality is always ready to betray them for the sake of political expediency and the interests of big capital. No matter what, whether it be domestic, Euro- liberal or Zionist- fascist, as will be discussed below.
Similarly, to all without exception "Management Committees for the bourgeoisie," bred on Soviet territory, the Belarusian "committee", being lead by the guarantor of the bourgeois purse and 'stability' President Alexander Lukashenko, is now very concerned about the creation of the "latest" history "of the sovereign nation-state." One of the directions of the "scientific research" was an intensive search for "famous compatriots" - cosmopolitan persons born on the territory of present-day Belarus, no matter in what century, and who became famous, no matter with what or from where, including the replication of "national pride" for these persons.
Almost no honorary Byelorussian today celebrates the official Minsk of the native from Mogilev, scandalous singer B. Moiseev (homosexual).
Artists deafened us with M. Chagall – native of Vitebsk, whose "art" became "the world's masterpieces," only through the capital of his fellow Zionists.
Incidentally, the famous Soviet Belarusian artist Mikhail Savitsky retracts the same capital to the periphery of world and national culture, precisely due to the fact that he dared to publicly question the greatness of Chagall. And so on and so forth into infinity. The piquancy of the situation is that the official ideologues have to compete in their "patriotic" endeavours with local Belarusian national russophobes.
However, on top of the moral degradation of bourgeois power of the "partisan republic" (in the past) has been the establishment and opening up of a bust to a native of Brest land, the bloody fascist Zionist Menachem Begin – a former Prime Minister of Israel.
Naturally, the "cultural- historical" event was held on the initiative and on the donations of the Jewish diaspora in Belarus.
"We must destroy the (local) population - it is our mission to protect the German population. We have to develop a technique for depopulation ... " Adolf Hitler admonished his warriors in the 1940-s. And here is what was written in memory of a German soldier who fought in the Soviet Union:
" ... You have no heart and nerves, as in war, they are not needed. Destroy pity and compassion within yourself, and kill every Russian and do not stop whether in front of you is an old man or woman, or a girl or a boy. Kill them all and thereby save yourself from death, to secure the future of your family and be famous forever ... No world power can resist German pressure. We will deliver to its knees the whole world. Germany is the absolute master of the world ... As befits a German, destroy all life resisting your way.. . " .
"You Israelites should not be compassionate when you kill your enemy. You do not have to sympathize with him so long as we do not destroy the so-called Arab culture, on the ruins of which we will build our own civilization"- Menachem Begin admonished in the 1950-s.
Characteristically, besides civilian officials in the opening ceremony of the monument to Begin there was a guard of honour of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. The question arises: Whose traditions will the Belarusian military consider themselves heirs to?
What kind of patriotism, and with what countenance, will the formal organization of military veterans preach, who have long been "serving" under the "committee for managing the affairs of the bourgeois class" and de facto become hotbeds of the ideological contagion of capital and levers to manipulate people's minds in the first place - the youth?
To the category of what press will be attributed after the fact, the official Belarusian publications praised effusively figures of Zionist fascism?
"People have always been and will always be foolish victims of deception and self-deception in politics until they learn seek the interests of certain classes behind any moral, religious, political and social phrases, declarations and promises" - said Vladimir Lenin. And today, more and more distinctly behind a leftist crackling phrase by the Belarusian leadership is viewed the actual fact that in order to preserve their interests – the feeding troughs with the hearty cold soup - capitalism, it is ready to embrace in the political arms with even the Nazis-Zionists.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of ordinary citizens as well as representatives of government agencies, non-governmental organizations and associations, even if sincerely considering themselves among the patriots (bourgeois), still do not understand - yet! - the political essence of what had been committed on Brest land in the immediate vicinity of the Brest fortress - hero in the autumn of 2013.
The latest continuation of the whitewashing of the Zionist pedigree which is connected with Belarusian land, became an eulogy in the newspaper of the Belarusian presidential administration “Sovetskaya Belorussia” № 6 (24387) from 14.01.2014, in connection with the death of former leader of Israel - A. Sharon, whose parents were natives of Belarus (his father before the revolution lived in Brest). This extreme Zionist, "a party in all the wars waged by Israel during the 50 years of its existence," was responsible for the deaths of many, many Arabs, whom even some bourgeois media define as the "cruel butcher", "Sovetskaya Belorussia" with admiration called him "the last lion of Judah".
And, apparently, yielding to a bad example, after the resolution of the bourgeois governments of Russia and Ukraine to officially open cemeteries on their territories for fascist fighters killed on Soviet soil, began their reburial of their remains on the troubled land of Belarus, one of the first - in the area of Brest, despite protests by war veterans. The process of "reconciliation" and "awareness", i.e. fraternization of Belarusian and German capital is now well underway.
Thus the exaltation of Zionist - fascist M. Begin and his monumentalization is no accidental phenomenon. The process is international and it is permanent.
Belarusian official propaganda loves to flaunt statements that some innovations across the entire territory of the CIS first appeared in Belarus. The bust-monument to Zionist-fascist M. Begin can now be added to the number of those "achievements" of the Belarusian bourgeois power.
All of the above does not contradict the very nature of capitalism. "Money surely does not smell. And morality and ethics - it is said by the leaders of Zionism and fascism, are for subhumans - goyim." That was the thinking of the raging German Adolf and his fellow class, as well as his political and spiritual successor, Israelite Menachem.
In conclusion, we must emphasize the following: during the grey period of the early Middle Ages to the present day is the cottage of the Jewish moneylender, the pawnshop, the bank, the stock exchange, the International Finance Corporation, which were and still are the tentacles of world Zionism. It happened so objectively. And namely those fathers and grandfathers who all scream hysterically today about the horrors of the "Holocaust", actually were those who financed and incited Hitler's fascism, with its slogan "Drang nach Osten", indifferently handing over to him at their mercy, their own relatives of Jewish proletarian origin. "The end justifies the means" is the eternal motto of these sharks from imperialism.
It is namely money – the basis, that is the "Alpha and Omega" of the power of modern Zionism. With the elimination of money not only power, but also the very existence of Zionism becomes impossible – it completely loses its nutritional environment, its soil.
Such steps are the removing of the means of production of commodity-money circulation and the introduction of direct exchange of products between enterprises, successfully implemented in the Soviet Union under the leadership of Joseph Stalin. The soil for Zionism in Stalin's Soviet Union was absent. With the destruction of the system of the scientific building of a communist society, commodity-money relations were restored, there was a capitalization of the economy and the country, and its rollback into the historical epoch of long ago - capitalism. Zionism today, as in the distant pre-revolutionary times, has again launched its grubby paws into the bowels of our homeland and prolongs its life by depleting its natural resources and its people.
"I predict the imminent collapse of the system of global capitalism," - said one of its most prominent pillars, George Soros. In common sense, Zionists, unlike their wage slaves cannot reject it - yet. But the collapse and death of this vile, archaic, long outdated capitalist system is impossible without a revolutionary coup and seizure of the means of production from the clutches of the financial oligarchy – which is mainly Zionist. Without proper preparation and organization, without working people mastering Marxist-Leninist science, a socialist revolution is unattainable. Therefore covenant of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin "Learn communism!" has again today become the motto and battle cry of every proletarian on the planet!

STATEMENT BY THE CC AUCPB
IN SUPPORT OF THE PEACE PROPOSALS BY THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP OF DPRK AND ITS SOCIAL ORGANISATIONS DIRECTED AT THE LEADRESHIP OF SOUTH KOREA ON STABILIZING THE SITUATION ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA

According to the Embassy of the DPRK in Russia, in recent years on the Korean Peninsula in the Republic of Korea have been carried out hasty preparations for the joint so-called military exercises in February with U.S. forces, in which the organizers did not burden themselves with statements about the peaceful nature of their military preparations, "exercises" with the possible use of weapons and equipped with nuclear warheads. Weapons aimed specifically at the capital of the DPRK - Pyongyang. This provocative romp by the U.S. military along with their companions from South Korea is fraught with the destruction of the fragile peace that has been established recently in the Korean peninsula.
The All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks condemns another provocative venture by the instigators of a new world war and calls on the peace loving world community to support the reasonable steps of the leadership of the DPRK made to the citizens of South Korea in establishing contacts between the two countries, including exchange visits of separated families, between the Koreans in the North and South.
We also call on people to categorically condemn the U.S. military under the command of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama, in their attempts at plunging the world into the fire of another World War where there will be no winners or losers.
We call on the progressive community worldwide, along with all anti-imperialist organizations and movements across the world to express their protest against the instigators of another World War in defence of a World without war, and a World without criminal imperialism. Imperialism does not want and can not realize that its actions are actually ardently preparing the world revolution that would sweep away the criminal imperialist system, together with its apologists and defenders of the entire criminal oligarchic elite, OBSESSED WITH RESULTING PROFIT AT ANY COST.
Long live the mass resistance movement of the peoples of the world against imperialism’s bloody butchers!
PEACE WILL TRIUMPH OVER WAR!

NDC OF DPRK ADVANCES CRUCIAL PROPOSALS TO S. KOREAN AUTHORITIES
Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- The National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK made the following principled proposals to the south Korean authorities Thursday upon authorization of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK:
1. We propose taking practical measures in hearty response to the warm call for establishing a climate for improved north-south relations.
We officially propose the south Korean authorities to take a practical measure of halting all acts of provoking and slandering the other side from January 30, a day before the Lunar New Year's Day.
2. We propose taking a practical step of halting all hostile military acts against the other side in response to the historic call for defending the security and peace of the nation.
So, we again propose immediately and unconditionally halting all military and hostile acts targeting the fellow countrymen in collusion with outsiders.
For the present the south Korean authorities should take a political decision of canceling Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises which they plan to stage from the end of February under the pretext of "annual and defensive" drills.
If the "coordination" and "cooperation" with the U.S. are so precious and valuable, they had better hold the exercises in the secluded area or in the U.S. far away from the territorial land, sea and air of the DPRK. This is the stand of the DPRK.
We specially propose stopping all acts provoking the other side on the ground and in the sea and air including five islands in the West Sea, hotspots where both sides are in acute show-down, leveling their guns at each other.
The DPRK side will show its practical action first for the realization of this proposal.
3. We propose taking a mutual practical measure to prevent a nuclear holocaust from being inflicted on this land.
Our nuclear force serves as a means for deterring the U.S. from posing a nuclear threat. It will never be a means for blackmailing the fellow countrymen and doing harm to them.
We courteously propose the south Korean authorities not to resort to reckless acts of bringing dangerous nuclear strike means of the U.S. to south Korea and to areas around it, taking this occasion as an opportunity.
It is the stand of the DPRK that the south side should resolutely break with the double-dealing stand of tolerating nuclear weapons of outsiders which are harmful to the fellow countrymen while denying the nuclear weapons of fellow countrymen which protect the nation.
If these proposals are put into practice, it will be possible to settle all issues, big or small, arising in the north-south relations including the reunion of separated families and relatives.
We express the expectation that the south Korean authorities will positively respond to our principled crucial proposals.

PROJECTED U.S.-S. KOREAN WAR DRILLS UNDER FIRE IN RUSSIA
Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- There took place protest actions outside the U.S. and south Korean embassies in Moscow on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 to support the crucial proposal of the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK and protest against the projected joint military drills of the U.S. and south Korea.
Attending the actions were personages of six Russian political parties and organizations including the Communists Party of Russia and the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks and masses.
Published there was a joint appeal addressed to the U.S. and the south Korean authorities, which supported the crucial proposal made by the NDC of the DPRK and denounced the projected Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military drills for aggression.
Saying the international community including Russia is expressing deep concern over the situation on the Korean peninsula as it is inching close to a crisis, the appeal noted:
The U.S. and the south Korean authorities are going to kick off Key Resolve and Foal Eagle in late February under the plea of "defensive" drills.
Reptile media of the U.S. and south Korea are vying with each other to distort the essence of the issue and float such a false rumor that the DPRK has driven the north-south relations into confrontation.
However, such farce went into total bankruptcy after the NDC of the DPRK made public a crucial proposal calling for paving a broad avenue for mending the north-south relations on Jan. 16.
If the detailed and explicit crucial proposal is implemented, a new chapter of peace will be unfolded in the inter-Korean relations.
This will also help settle all the matters arising in the north-south relations including the reunion of separated families and relatives.
We demand the south Korean authorities positively respond to the crucial proposal

16 FEBRUARY MARKS 72 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF COMRADE KIM JONG IL
Kim Jong Il refers to a glorious galaxy of people whose names are forever in the history of the progressive mankind. When Kim Jong-Il was leader, the small country of the DPRK, after the collapse of the socialist camp and the collapse of the USSR in the 90s of the twentieth century, was able to do the following:
- To survive as a socialist state in spite of all the political rages and storms of a cruel century,
- To withstand constant fierce political, economic and military provocations, including brazen nuclear blackmail by the leading imperialist power of the century - the United States,
- To defend the independence of the State during a harsh economic blockade of the country imposed by imperialism and, furthermore,
- To continue the successful construction of socialism, relying only on their own strength .
Great Kim Jong Il, as a brilliant politician and practitioner inheriting the case of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung in conditions of a dramatically worsening international situation (after the death of Kim Il Sung), guided by the Songun policy, was able to mobilize all the forces of the Korean people to build a powerful socialist nation and turn it into an impregnable fortress for imperialism equipped with nuclear weapons, a power able to successfully develop and use modern technology with the latest achievements of science and technology, a power, successfully building a prosperous socialist state relying only on its own strength.
Kim Jong Il was very fond of the people, was always with them for their own good and worked very hard, forgetting about his own rest. It is not a known occasion to Kim Jong Il that during the holidays he was ever was at home with people close to him. These days he spent making regular inspections of enterprises, agricultural cooperatives, in remote parts of the military to himself see and feel how to live as a simple worker, a soldier, a farmer and with his own eyes see and know all the pressing problems of everyday life and work of the common man and try faster to address them. Because the people of the DPRK treat their leader with great affection and are ready to follow him on his first call, making the wonders of heroism and patriotism in the construction and protection of the dignity of their socialist state.
During the years of the country's leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Il, the DPRK progressed remarkably in its economic development and in strengthening the country's defense, becoming a serious advocate of peace and tranquility in Northeast Asia, not allowing Americans start unleashing global armed conflict in this region of the world. Thus they defended themselves on so fragile a peace on Earth now.
Great Kim Jong Il left behind a well-established and well-functioning system of management and control of all economic mechanisms, precision workmanship and high proficiency of military units, efficiency solutions in business issues that arise during the construction of grandiose objects of the century. Under Kim Jong-Il in the DPRK were erected many monumental buildings glorifying socialist Korean history and the heroism of its builders and defenders.
Today, the DPRK is one of the highly industrialized countries in the field of space, in which the main concern of the leadership is improving the lives of working people. Like in a fairy tale, grow lovely comfortable residential high-rise apartments in one of the most beautiful and cleanest capitals in the world - Pyongyang. Constantly improving is the life in agricultural cooperatives along with the cosmic speed of improving health throughout the state. Construction projects in the DPRK come to life 2-3 times faster than envisaged by the designers. And this high intensity of struggle for the building of a prosperous socialist state was given by the beloved leader Comrade Kim Jong Il.
We wish a great socialist Korea only sunny days each year and the successful solution of all tasks set before the people by the new leader - Kim Jong Un, successfully implementing the plans of Great Kim Jong Il.

NEWS FROM UK KFA

2013 YEAR OF VICTORY FOR THE DPRK 2013-Juche 102 was a year of victory for the DPRK the land of Songun and people's paradise. Big strides forward have taken place in the work of construction. Two new hospitals opened in Pyongyang; the Okryu Childrens Hospital and the Ryugyong Dental hospital, plus a new breast tumour institute attached to he Pyongyang maternity hospital.
It should be noted in passing that these would cost millions if not billions to build in the UK so this proves the stories about "crisis" and "poverty " in the DPRK are wrong. New cultural and sporting facilities such as the Munsu water park and the Mirim riding club have opened whilst the construction of the Masik ski range is progressing apace.
New housing has been constructed in Pyongyang and elsewhere in the DPRK.
Industrial output has increased. The Orangchon power station No 2 was completed in September and many new power stations are under
construction in the DPRK. Agriculture has made progress with the construction of a new stock farm at the Sepho tableland well under way.
During 2013 the DPRK under the Songun revolutionary leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN thwarted attempts by the US imperialists to provoke a new war and invade the DPRK. The self defence capacity of the DPRK was further augmented by the successful self reliant and self defensive third nuclear test of the DPRK in February.
The strength of the DPRK was also manifested in the successful celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Our UK KFA delegation was very pleased to participate in these and witnessed the awe inspiring grand military parade.
Colourful celebrations of the DPRK 65th founding anniversary also took place in September.
The single hearted unity of the DPRK based on Juche was consolidated 100 fold during 2013 as the anti-party counter-revolutionary
factionalists were defeated and liquidated.
May the DPRK go on to greater victories in 2014 under the leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN

they have proved that the DPRK does whatever the supreme commander is determined to do.
The country will never forget the exploits performed by the heroic builders and genuine patriots who created new historical terms "Speed on Masik Pass" by successfully finishing in a short span of time the construction that would take others more than 10 years to do, true to the noble intention of Kim Jong Un, who loves his people so much, and his outstanding leadership.
The speaker underscored the need to preserve and manage well all the facilities and buildings of the resort and scrupulously organize service and thus help the people more keenly feel the loving care shown by the party for them.

FASCIST COUP IN UKRAINE - STATEMENT BY THE AUCPB

FASCIST COUP IN UKRAINE
Pyrrhic victory
Statement of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the AUCPB Ukraine, Moldova and Transdniestria
In recent days, the world has been shaken by what has happened and continues to happen in Ukraine. For first time since 1945 at the end of the Second World War, in Europe's largest country, a former Soviet republic, the Nazis have come to power.
The events preceding the coup, developed rapidly.
On February 18, at the call of the leader of the National Fascist Banderite "Svoboda" (Freedom) Party Oleg Tyagniboka, a "peaceful" march to Parliament was held to put pressure on the deputies with the aim of returning to the Constitution of 2004. In the course of the event, petrol bombs (Molotov cocktails) were again hurled by right-wing groups, including incendiary mixtures and the use of firearms. In response, the law enforcement agencies used stun grenades and water cannons. Only on February 20, they were allowed to use firearms. On the roofs of buildings, as in the period of Yeltsin's bloody coup on October 3-4, 1993, in Moscow, supported by the West, there were snipers who were shooting to kill at representatives of both conflicting sides.
As a result of the bloody mayhem unleashed by the two clans of the bourgeoisie - on the one hand, the clan of Viktor Yanukovych, who expressed the interests of big oligarchic capital - on the other, also an oligarchic clan of the opposition at that time, the National-Bandera clan ("Fatherland" Party) of Yatsenyuk, "Udar” led by V. Klitschko, "Svoboda" O. Tyagniboka ), reflecting the interests of the small and medium nationalist bourgeoisie, as well as parts of large capital -based in the EU and fully controlled by Zionist- American capital, US- NATO imperialism, leading the struggle for world domination - during the confrontation on Maidan in Kiev about a hundred people were killed and about a thousand wounded on both conflicting sides.
On February 20, foreign ministers of Germany, France and Poland arrived in Kyiv. Under their pressure, Yanukovych signed an agreement with representatives of the pro-Western opposition for a return to the constitution in 2004 limiting the power of the president and holding early presidential elections in Ukraine. Yanukovych actually signed an act of surrender brokered by Western "democratic" emissaries before the representatives of the comprador bourgeoisie, preaching even more reactionary, fascist ideas.
On February 22, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and K ° shamefully fled, abandoning the presidency. Immediately the opposition group of the bourgeoisie seized power in the country, forming the new leadership of the Supreme Council, and A. Turchynov, one of the leaders of the "Fatherland" party was elected as chairman and approved as acting President of Ukraine. All key positions in the state are appointed representatives of the former opposition. In particular, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine was approved by the representative of the "Svoboda" party O. Mahnitsky. Now the Banderites will administer "justice" in Ukraine, naturally of course, in their own National Fascist Banderite way. Presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for May 25. The formation of a coalition majority in the Verkhovna Rada is underway, which forms the new government.
The working people of Ukraine, at the cost of their own blood have roped around their necks instead of one group of oppressors, yet another, more reactionary group of oppressors.
The fascist coup in Ukraine, which began in late November 2013, fully supported and paid for by the West, is now complete. The country has established a national- fascist Banderite dictatorship.
The Bandera fascists throughout Ukraine are furiously demolishing monuments to the leader of the world proletariat, Vladimir Lenin, trying to destroy all memory of Lenin, the Soviet period of life, the friendship between the peoples and proletarian internationalism, and especially deceived are the woozy with Banderite fascist ideas Western Ukrainian youth, realizing only all too well that only under the red flag, armed with ideas of Marxism -Leninism, can the working class, the working people of Ukraine repel fascism.
Pockets of resistance to the Banderite fascism offence have been organized in some eastern and south- eastern regions of Ukraine, Crimea, although organized by workers while largely led by pro-Russian groups of the bourgeoisie.
We Bolsheviks declare that victory over fascism which is nurtured and generated by large transnational Zionist capital, can only be achieved by abolishing private property, nationalizing property that the tycoons and other thieves stole, and eliminating the power of the bourgeoisie. Is the blinding in luxury house of thief Yanukovych any inferior in luxury to the villas of Ukrainian oligarchs (Kolomoysky, for example) and others?
Ukraine's current rulers have claimed that the country’s treasury is empty, and the country is in the pre- default state to the fault of the former Azarov government. This same trick is being repeated as in the beginning of 2010, when the Yanukovych - Azarov bourgeoisie group came to power declaring a catastrophic state of Ukraine's economy due to the fault of the previous regime of Yushchenko - Tymoshenko.
And already there are current appeals by the Banderites who seized power to international financial institutions, the EU and the International Monetary Fund with requests for financial support in the amount of $35 billion dollars. The IMF has given prior consent to a loan "for the legitimate new government." Of course, with the usual IMF conditions - increase in tariffs for housing and communal services, freezing salaries and cuts in all social benefits.
The working people of Ukraine not only with their own blood, but also in the further decline of their living standards and impoverishment will pay for the establishment of the power of the nationalists and Bandera fascists. A sobering up of the working people of Ukraine will happen very quickly. When the people of the Ukraine, especially in Western Ukraine realize that they made sacrifices in vain, that they had been deceived once again by nationalists- fascists who seized power who have already begun to fight among themselves for key positions in the state - the anger of the people will be terrible.
The current maidan under alien to the people Petlyura yellow and blue, and red and black Bandera flags will turn into a maidan under the proletarian red banner and rise to fight for the final and irrevocable destruction of the power of capital.
***
The political programs of the current right-wing Banderite pogrom groups, heirs of the Hitler SS storm troopers, the ideological leaders of the fascist coup - "Svoboda" Oleg Tyagnibok, "Trident " in the name of S . Bandera, Dmytro Yarosh, and the like - are full of hatred for the great Russian people, saturated with zoological Russophobia and anticommunism. An attack is underway against the great Russian language, being the lingua franca of all Slavic peoples and all peoples of the former USSR.
The Banderites have pushed through an idea to ban the Russian language in Ukraine, with the persecution of all who dare to use it in communication and in documents not written in Ukrainian. Such violence can not but arouse opposition on the part of those for whom the Russian language is in many generations of native speakers. The fascist vandals destroyed not only monuments to Lenin, but demolish other monuments (Mikhail Kutuzov, the great Russian commander, hero of the War of 1812 ...).
The Banderites blatantly deceive Western Ukrainian youth, educating them for over 20 years, suggesting that the fascist hirelings and executioners - Bandera and Shukhevych, OUN-UPA warriors, are heroes, and Lenin and Stalin - bloodthirsty tyrants.
And among young people it is still is not known, due to the current anti -Soviet orientation of education, history education distorting the truth, that it was under Stalin that all Ukrainian lands were gathered into a single Ukrainian state, that the victory over fascism was won under the red banner of the entire Soviet people, inspired by the ideas of Marxism -Leninism, the entire Soviet people, who defended their homeland, including defending the freedom and independence of Ukraine, and who saved the world from fascism.
We are called on to enter Europe. But Ukraine is in the centre of Europe. Moreover, in the Soviet period, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in the USSR was among the ten most developed countries of the world, and the people of Ukraine constantly had jobs and wages, confidence in the future, and Ukraine's population grew steadily, reaching 52.2 million to peak in 1992.
But after 10 years of so-called "independence" in the early 2000s, the UN classed Ukraine as the five most endangered nations on the planet. Currently, the population of Ukraine, according to official figures, amounts to only slightly more than 45 million people, and that is in taking into account those seven million who left to work abroad in the current "independence" and "sovereign" Ukraine live no more than 38 million people. (!)
Signing an association agreement with the EU, Ukraine will lose the rest of its high-tech production, finally parting with its economic and political independence. Hundreds of thousands of working people of Ukraine will be thrown into the street, adding to the vast army of the unemployed.
***
The events in Ukraine have not only domestic but also international dimension.
Ukraine now has become the main point, the main knot of contradictions throughout the world capitalist system, turning into the main arena of the international struggle between Labour and Capital.
The world capitalist system is going through a deep crisis from which it has no exit. To prolong its existence, the US-NATO imperialists unleash wars around the world, destroying countries and enslaving people, capturing their natural raw materials.
The greedy eyes of Zionist- American capital is glancing at Russia, seeking to conquer it and put it at the service of the richest reserves of oil and gas, and other natural resources of Russia and to turn its people into slaves of transnational corporations and banks.
There is a growing threat of a Third World War, in which the Zionists seek to draw in Ukraine, pitting the two fraternal peoples against each other and pitting them in fratricidal slaughter. That is the aim of the Banderites of "Svoboda", "Trident" and other nationalist and nationalist- fascist organizations for poisoning fraternal peoples, completely going along with and on the payroll of US- Zionist capital.
The working people of the Ukraine, Russia and other fraternal peoples of the former USSR, and the workers of the world should have no illusions about the Putin regime.
During the years of the Yeltsin- Putin's reign, the Russian Armed Forces were largely destroyed and are now only a pale shadow of the invincible Soviet Army.
The powerful strategic nuclear potential created by the selfless labour of the Soviet people, is now virtually destroyed.
The Russian army has almost no capability of opposing 11 aircraft carrier strike groups of the U.S. Navy, 14 nuclear submarines with intercontinental ballistic missiles -surfing oceans when one nuclear volley from each boat can hit more than 200 targets in Russia. NATO aircraft are currently based at Baltic aerodromes, equipped with tactical nuclear weapons to the distance from Moscow and Leningrad, 600 and 150 km, respectively, which does not exceed 20-30 minutes of flight to the target.
By bringing national- fascist groups to power in Ukraine, the U.S. Army and NATO will complete the encirclement of Russia, choosing only the opportune moment and looking for an excuse to strike at Russia and the outbreak of war, which, in fact, will immediately turn into a third world thermonuclear war.
We appeal to the working class, the working people of Ukraine with a call to unite their forces and to fight the rise of fascist dictatorship.

New Year Address Made by Kim Jong Un

Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- The dear respected Kim Jong Un made a New Year address on January 1, 2013. The following is its full text:
Dear comrades,
Officers and men of the heroic People's Army and all the beloved fellow countrymen,
Dear compatriots,
Having seen out the year 2013 characterized by the events that will go down in the history of the nation, we are seeing in the new year 2014 full of high hope and confidence in final victory.
Reflecting the unanimous reverence of all the service personnel and people for President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, the fathers of the nation and eternal Sun of Juche, I would like first to pay the highest tribute and New Year greetings to them.
I extend my warm greetings to the service personnel and people who are devotedly striving for the prosperity of the country, firmly united around the Workers' Party of Korea, and sincerely wish all the families across the country harmony and greater happiness.
My New Year greetings also go to our compatriots in the south and abroad who are ringing in the new year with yearning and expectations for the reunification and prosperity of the nation and the world's progressive peoples and our foreign friends who love justice and peace.
Last year was a historic year in which the great Generalissimos were upheld as the eternal leaders of our revolution and a firm guarantee was provided for brilliantly carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Juche to completion under the leadership of the Party.
The President and the General were great leaders whom our people acclaimed for the first time in their history spanning thousands of years; they are the eternal images of the great Paektusan nation and banners of all victories and glory. Last year we celebrated the centenary of the birth of the President as the greatest national holiday, reviewed the 100-year history of Juche Korea with pride and held up the General as the eternal leader of our Party and people, realizing the cause of immortalizing the leader. By doing so, we have been able to glorify the new century of the Juche era as the annals of victory and glory for the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche under the unfurled banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.
Although they saw in 2012 in tears of blood after the sudden demise of the General whom they had believed in as in heaven, our service personnel and people determinedly rose up following the Party with firm faith that the great General would always be with them and fully supported the leadership of the Party. With loyalty as pure as white gem, noble sense of moral obligation and all sincerity, they refurbished the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in the most sublime way as befits the supreme sanctuary of Juche and erected the statues of the Generalissimos on Mansu Hill and in several other places.
Placing deep trust in and faithfully supporting the Party, they established the ties of blood with it, their hearts pulsating in the same beats with it, and always shared sweets and bitters with it. Major political celebrations held amid the deep interest of the whole nation and the days of last year bore testimony to the single-hearted unity between the Party, the army and the people which was further consolidated to be unbreakable ties of blood.
Last year our service personnel and people achieved historic victories which would brilliantly shine in the history of the country by waging a general offensive to put the intentions and instructions of the General into practice.
Our reliable scientists and technicians successfully launched the artificial earth satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2, carrying out the instruction of the General with credit and fully demonstrating the high level of space science and technology and overall national power of Juche Korea. That we successfully manufactured and launched the scientific and technological satellite by entirely relying on our own efforts, technology and wisdom was an event of national jubilation that raised the dignity and honor of the Sun's nation onto the highest level and a great event which inspired all the service personnel and people with confidence in sure victory and courage and clearly showed that Korea does what it is determined to do.
Through the parade held in celebration of the centenary of the birth of the President, our revolutionary armed forces demonstrated the inexhaustible might of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu steadfast in ideology and faith and equipped with Korean-style modern military hardware capable of defeating any formidable enemy. And they reliably safeguarded the security of the country by resolutely smashing every war provocation and anti-DPRK smear campaign of the enemy. The officers and men of the People's Army and the People's Internal Security Forces made breakthroughs on all major fronts of building a thriving country with the mettle of "At a go" and did many good things for the happiness of the people, thereby living up to the expectations and trust of the Party and people.
Although the situation was acute and complicated and severe natural calamities hit the country in succession last year, our army and people made great strides in their efforts to build a thriving socialist country and improve the people's living standards by displaying an indomitable will and waging an unyielding struggle.
We put the Huichon Power Station and Tanchon Port into commission, built many Juche-oriented and modern factories and enterprises and reconstructed major production bases in key industrial sectors on the basis of advanced science and technology, thus further consolidating the material and technological foundations of our economy.
Thanks to the exalted patriotic zeal of the service personnel and people, monumental edifices including Changjon Street and Rungna People's Pleasure Park sprang up in Pyongyang and many cultural facilities for the promotion of the wellbeing of the people were built in different parts of the country, changing its looks.
Last year, the superior socialist education system was further consolidated through the adoption of the law on enforcing universal 12-year compulsory education; our sports people achieved laudable successes in international games, adding glory to the country; and our revolutionary artistes conducted artistic activities in a fresh and enterprising manner, imbuing society with an animating spirit and greatly encouraging the people in their struggle.
The brilliant successes we achieved in the revolutionary struggle and construction work last year were ascribable to the fact that the General had unfolded an ambitious blueprint and laid firm foundations for the building of a thriving country. Last year's significant successes were a valuable fruit born of the unshakeable determination and correct leadership of our Party to glorify Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Korea all over the world by translating the far-reaching plan and instructions of the General into reality and the lofty sense of loyalty and patriotic devotion of our service personnel and people unfailingly faithful to the Party.
I extend my warm thanks to all the service personnel and people who adorned the first year of the new century of the Juche era with great victories in hearty response to the Party's militant call.
Comrades,
The new year 2013 is a year of great creations and changes in which a radical turnabout will be effected in the building of a thriving socialist country on the road of the onward march in the new century of Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Korea.
All the people and service personnel should dynamically turn out in the grand onward march for building a thriving country full of pride of victors and confidence in a rosy future.
The road of Juche is the only path for our Party and people to invariably follow and great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the ever-victorious banner of our revolution. We should march forward along the road of independence, the road of Songun and the road of socialism to the end upholding the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism. Our Party will triumphantly build a thriving socialist nation, the most powerful country, on this land in our own way, the way the General did, by relying on our people who are the best in the world.
This year we will be greeting the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, our glorious motherland, and the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
The dignified and glorious present of our people and the bright prosperous future of our country are ensured by the immortal nation-building exploits the Generalissimos performed while founding a genuine state of the people for the first time in the 5 000-year-long history of our nation and developing it into a powerful socialist country that is independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant in national defence and by the great achievements the President made while leading the Fatherland Liberation War to brilliant victory on the strength of his outstanding strategy and tactics and wise leadership.
In this significant year we should add brilliance to the immortal achievements of the great Generalissimos and make persevering efforts to build a thriving socialist country and carry out the cause of reunifying the country.
The building of an economic giant is the most important task that comes to the fore in the present stage of building a thriving socialist country.
We should further consolidate the successes achieved so far in economic construction to raise the status of our country to that of an economic giant in the new century, thus realizing the wish of the great General who devoted all his life to making our people well off with nothing to envy in the world.
In the same manner as we demonstrated the dignity and might of Songun Korea through the manufacture and launch of the Juche-based application satellite, the entire Party, the whole country and all the people should wage an all-out struggle this year to effect a turnaround in building an economic giant and improving the people’s standard of living.
"Let us bring about a radical turn in the building of an economic giant with the same spirit and mettle as were displayed in conquering space!" -- this is the fighting slogan our Party and people should uphold this year.
All sectors and all units of the national economy should launch a vigorous general offensive to boost production in hearty response to the Party's militant slogan.
All economic undertakings for this year should be geared to effecting a radical increase in production and stabilizing and improving the people's living standards by solidifying and making effective use of the already-built foundations of the independent national economy.
By adopting decisive steps to shore up the vanguard sectors of the national economy and the sectors of basic industries, we should develop coal-mining, electric-power and metallurgical industries and rail transport on a preferential basis and provide a firm springboard for the building of an economic giant. We should make innovations in coal-mining and metallurgical industries in particular so as to revitalize the overall economy of the country.
The success in economic construction should be manifested in the people's standard of living. We should direct great efforts to bolstering up the sectors and units that have a direct bearing on the people's livelihoods and increasing production there, so as to give them more benefits in living.
Agriculture and light industry remain the major fronts for economic construction this year, too. We should fulfil this year's plan for grain production without fail by concentrating nationwide efforts on farming and raising the efficiency of agricultural production by dint of scientific and intensive methods. We should take concrete measures for the supply of raw and other materials to light-industry factories and thus increase the output of quality consumer goods.
We should decisively bolster up livestock, fish and fruit farming to provide the people with a better, more bountiful diet. The soldiers of the People’s Army and the shock-brigade members who volunteered to work at the reclamation site of Sepho tableland in response to the Party's call should achieve miraculous successes and perform heroic feats in this year's campaign to open a bright prospect for carrying the Party's grand nature-remaking plan to completion at an earlier date.
We should wage a dynamic struggle to boost production at the modern factories and production bases that were built under the leadership of the General who, going on with his super-intense forced march, made painstaking efforts to improve the people's living standards. By doing so, we should ensure that his ennobling affection reaches the people as it is.
All sectors and all units of the national economy should push ahead with a socialist emulation drive to reenergize production and fulfil their quotas as fixed in the national economic plan for this year.
We should bring about a radical turn in the building of an economic giant on the strength of science and technology by fanning the flames of the industrial revolution in the new century.
The industrial revolution in the new century is, in essence, a scientific and technological revolution, and breaking through the cutting edge is a shortcut to the building of an economic giant. Like the satellite scientists who conquered outer space we should wage a dynamic campaign to push back the frontiers of science and technology so as to develop the country's overall science and technology to the world standards as soon as possible. All sectors of the national economy should direct primary efforts to the development of science and technology, bring science and technology into close combination with production in order to boost production by relying on domestic resources and technology, and introduce CNC technology in equipment and production lines and achieve their full automation in the long run.
We should improve economic guidance and management as demanded by the developing reality.
All sectors of the national economy should make scrupulous arrangements for economic planning and guidance to boost production by tapping every possible reserve and potentiality, and work out in a scientific way the immediate plans and long-term strategies for stage-by-stage development and push ahead with them in a persistent manner. We should hold fast to the socialist economic system of our own style, steadily improve and perfect the methods of economic management on the principle of encouraging the working masses to fulfil their responsibility and role befitting the masters of production, and generalize on an extensive scale the good experiences gained at several units.
We should continue to channel great efforts into consolidating our political and military might in every way.
The single-hearted unity of the army and people around the Party is our strongest weapon and a powerful propellant for the building of a thriving socialist country.
We should invariably carry forward the proud tradition of single-hearted unity, the tradition of adorning the red flag of the revolution only with victories on the strength of the harmonious whole wherein the Party believes in the people and the latter absolutely trust and follow the former.
All officials, Party members and other working people should become genuine comrades united with a single heart, who share ideology and purpose, weal and woe with our Party on the road of the Songun revolution, and make devoted efforts for the sake of their country and people. They should orient all undertakings towards defending and cementing the single-hearted unity, and strengthen the political and ideological position of our revolution as solid as a rock by grasping the people's sentiments and rallying broad sections of the people firmly behind the Party.
The military might of a country represents its national strength; only when it builds up its military might in every way can it develop into a thriving country and defend the security and happiness of its people. We should put continued stress on increasing our military might under the great banner of Songun, reliably safeguard the security and sovereignty of the country and render services to assuring regional stability and global peace.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the advancing of the slogan "a-match-for-a-hundred" by the great Generalissimo Kim Il Sung. It is important to bring about a fundamental change in strengthening our revolutionary armed forces and perfecting their combat preparedness.
The People’s Army should set up a revolutionary command system and military climate, establish steel-strong military discipline and perfect its regularized features as befits an elite revolutionary force. It should make its training more intensive, as the anti-Japanese guerrillas did on Mt. Paektu, so as to prepare all its officers and men to be a-match-for-a-hundred combatants who have acquired capabilities for actual warfare, and maintain full combat readiness. If the aggressors dare launch a preemptive attack against our sacred country, the People's Army should mercilessly annihilate them and win victory in the war for the country's reunification.
Officers and men of the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and members of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards should intensify combat and political training and maintain full combat readiness with a determination to safeguard their Party and leader, country and people, and defend their hometowns.
The sector of defence industry should develop in larger numbers sophisticated military hardware of our own style that can contribute to implementing the Party's military strategy, thereby fulfilling its mission as the arsenal of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu.
We should spur the building of a civilized socialist nation to usher in a new era of cultural efflorescence in the 21st century.
The thriving socialist country we are building is a civilized socialist one where all its people are possessed of profound cultural knowledge, sturdy physique and noble moral virtues, enjoying a socialist life to their heart's content under the most cultured conditions and environment, and a beautiful and sound lifestyle pervades the whole society.
All sectors in cultural construction should implement to the letter the ideas, lines and policies set forth by the General, and develop education, public health, literature and the arts, physical culture, public morals and all other branches as appropriate to an advanced civilized nation.
We should develop Pyongyang into a more majestic and picturesque city as befits the capital of Juche Korea, the centre of Songun culture, and turn all streets and villages, mountains and rivers in provinces, cities and counties into a socialist paradise. At the same time we should set up modern cultural and welfare facilities, parks and pleasure grounds in larger numbers, thus making our people enjoy a cultured life of a new era to their heart's content.
In order to effect a radical change in this year's campaign to build a thriving socialist country, officials should make a fundamental turnabout in their ideological viewpoint, work style and attitude.
Those who acquire the President's and the General's outlook on the people, make tireless efforts for their good, rid themselves of the old way of thinking and attitude and make ceaseless innovations in all work, and rouse the masses to make breakthroughs for the advance, can be rightly claimed to be genuine officials required by our Party at present. Officials should strive with devotion, upholding the slogan "Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!" They should work to the best of their abilities with a high sense of responsibility, eagerness and an enterprising approach to work, so that their loyalty and performance can be judged by the Party and the people.
Party organizations should further enhance their militant function and role.
As the political staff of the units concerned, they should firmly establish policy-oriented principles in implementing the Party's policies and conduct political and organizational work with scrupulous care. By doing so, they should ensure that a great upsurge is brought about in their respective sectors and units. Party organizations, out of maternal feeling, should embrace all the people, take warm care of them and lead them forward to ensure that they share the same destiny with the Party to the end and fulfil their tasks at their posts in a responsible manner.
We should conduct Party work in the same way as it was done on the battleline in the 1970s, and put a focus of the work on thoroughly applying Kim Jong Il's patriotism in all activities.
Kim Jong Il's patriotism is the eternal soul and breath of Kim Il Sung's nation, and a driving force for the building of a thriving country. Party organizations should ensure that all officials, Party members and other working people cherish Kim Jong Il's patriotism deep in their hearts and give full play to their patriotic enthusiasm and spirit of devoted service in the ongoing sacred struggle to achieve prosperity of their socialist country.
Working people's organizations should conduct effective education among their members to suit their specific features, thus inspiring them to an all-out offensive for this year. Youth league organizations should educate young people to dynamically advance straight forward along the road indicated by the Party and become youth heroes who glorify the present era of great upsurge with their creative activities and feats.
The reunification of the country is the greatest national task that brooks no further delay and was the lifelong desire and instructions of the great Generalissimos.
Deeply grieving over the national division, President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, the fathers of the nation and lodestars of national reunification, worked heart and soul throughout their life to hand down a reunified country to their fellow countrymen, laying firm foundations for the independent reunification, peace and prosperity of the nation.
We should staunchly safeguard and add brilliance to the undying exploits the great Generalissimos performed for the sacred cause of national reunification, and accomplish the historic cause of the country's reunification, a long-cherished desire of our nation, true to the lofty intention of the peerlessly great persons.
This year the entire Korean nation should turn out in a nationwide patriotic struggle for reunification in unity so as to usher in a new phase in the reunification movement.
An important issue in putting an end to the division of the country and achieving its reunification is to remove confrontation between the north and the south.
The past records of inter-Korean relations show that confrontation between fellow countrymen leads to nothing but war. Anti-reunification forces of south Korea should abandon their hostile policy against their fellow countrymen, but take the road of national reconciliation, unity and reunification.
Respecting and thoroughly implementing the north-south joint declarations is a basic prerequisite to promoting the inter-Korean relations and hastening the country’s reunification.
All the compatriots in the north, south and abroad should launch a dynamic struggle to carry out to the letter the June 15 Joint Declaration and the October 4 Declaration, great reunification programmes common to the nation in the new century and milestones for peace and prosperity.
The reunification issue should be solved by the concerted efforts of our nation in an independent manner.
The driving force of the reunification movement is the entire Korean nation, and nothing is impossible if it achieves firm unity. All the members of the Korean nation in the north, south and abroad should subordinate and orientate everything to the great national cause of reunifying the country from the standpoint of giving priority and attaching importance to the nation and achieving its unity. The entire nation should vehemently reject any moves for domination, intervention, aggression and war by outside forces, and never tolerate any acts hindering the country's reunification.
Whatever trials and difficulties lie in the way of national reunification, we will build a reunified thriving country without fail on this three-thousand-ri land by the concerted efforts of the whole nation.
In the present international arena, the moves of the imperialists to interfere in the internal affairs of other sovereign states and their acts of military aggression pose a serious threat to peace and security of mankind. The Asia-Pacific region, the Korean Peninsula in particular, has become the hottest spot in the world in which constant tension persists.
The aspiration and desire of mankind to lead an independent life free from all sorts of domination and subjugation is growing stronger, and no force can stem the trend of history towards independence and justice.
The present international situation demands that our Republic continue to advance along the road of independence under the unfurled banner of Songun.
By holding fast to the ideals of independence, peace and friendship, we will, in the future, too, strive to develop relations of friendship and cooperation with the countries that are friendly to our country out of their respect for its sovereignty, and safeguard regional peace and stability and make the whole world independent.
A brighter and broader vista is open for us in the new year, and only victory and glory are in store for our people on their onward march.
Let us vigorously strive to achieve the prosperity of our country, our motherland, firmly rallied behind the Party under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

Mandela and Fidel: What is
not being said
ATILIO BORÓN
THE death of Nelson Mandela has precipitated a torrent of interpretations on his life and work, all of which present him as a disciple of pacifism and a kind of Mother Teresa of South Africa. This is an essentially incorrect, and premeditated, image, promoted to obscure the fact that after the Sharpeville massacre in 1960, the African National Congress (ANC) adopted a strategy of armed struggle and sabotage of enterprises and important economic projects, but without endangering human life.
Mandela toured diverse African countries in search of economic and military aid to sustain this new tactic of struggle. He was detained in 1962 and, shortly afterward, sentenced to life imprisonment, 25 years of which he spent relegated to a maximum security prison, in a cell measuring 2x2 meters. Only as a result of formidable international pressure to attain his release, these conditions improved in the last two years of his detention.
Thus, Mandela was not a "worshipper of bourgeois legality," but an exceptional political leader whose strategy and tactics of struggle varied as the conditions under which his battles were waged changed. It is said that he was the man who ended the odious South African apartheid regime, which is a half truth.
The other half of the merit goes to Fidel and the Cuban Revolution, which by intervening in the civil war in Angola, sealed the fate of the racists, defeating the troops of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), the South African army and two Angolan mercenary armies, organized and financed by the United States through the CIA. Thanks to Cuba’s heroic cooperation, which once again demonstrated the noble internationalism of the Cuban Revolution, Angolan independence was maintained, laying the bases for the subsequent emancipation of Namibia and delivering a coup de grace to South African apartheid.
For that reason, after learning about the crucial battle of Cuito Cuanavale, on March 23, 1988, Mandela wrote from prison that the outcome of what he called the African Stalingrad "was the turning point for the liberation of our continent—and of my people—from the scourge of apartheid." The defeat of the racists and their U.S. mentors was a mortal blow to the South African occupation of Namibia and precipitated the beginning of negotiations with the ANC which, shortly thereafter, would demolish the racist South African regime, the joint work of those two giant statesmen and revolutionaries.
Years later, in the 1995 Cuban-South Africa Solidarity Conference, Mandela affirmed, "The Cubans came to our region as doctors, teachers, soldiers, agricultural experts, but never as colonizers. They have shared the same trenches with us in the struggle against colonialism, underdevelopment, and apartheid…We vow never to forget this unparalleled example of selfless internationalism." This is a good reminder for those who yesterday and today talk of the Cuban "invasion" of Angola.
Cuba paid an enormous price for this noble act of international solidarity which, as Mandela noted, was the turning point of the struggle against racism in Africa. From 1975 to 1991, close to 450,000 Cuban men and women served in Angola, risking their lives. Over 2,600 died fighting to defeat the racist regime of Pretoria and its allies. The death of the extraordinary leader who was Nelson Mandela provides an excellent opportunity to honor their battle and, additionally, the internationalist heroism of Fidel and the Cuban Revolution.

NELSON MANDELA
Symbol of freedom and human dignity
• The Nobel Peace Prize laureate died December 5 in his Johannesburg residence, in the company of many family members, friends and South African government representatives
CLAUDIA FONSECA SOSA
IT is possible that no other political leader of our times has been so admired for his resistance and tenacity in the struggle for racial equality as South African Nelson Mandela, who died on Thursday, December 5, at the age of 95.
His health gradually deteriorated throughout the year, the result of a lung infection contracted in prison.
Born July 18, 1918, his parents Henry Mandela and Nose Keni named him Rolihlahla Dalibhunga Mandela; however, he was known by the English name Nelson, which his British teacher gave him, or as Madiba, as he was affectionately called by his compatriots.
He graduated as a lawyer in 1942 and shortly afterward moved from his native Umtata to Johannesburg, where he joined the ranks of the African National Congress (ANC), an organization promoting peaceful protest against the segregationist regime and the brutal exploitation meted out to Black South Africans in a society in which they were the majority.
In the following years he founded the ANC Youth League, which took on importance within the ANC with its Civil Disobedience Campaign and in the Congress of the People, where the Freedom Charter known as the declaration of principles in the anti-apartheid struggle was adopted.
During this period, Mandela and his friend Oliver Tambo also organized a lawyer’s office which offered low-cost advice to many Blacks who otherwise would have had no legal representation. For his revolutionary activities, following the non-violent methods of resistance inherited from the Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi, Mandela and another 150 comrades were arrested on December 5, 1956, and sentenced to prison. Once released, Mandela opted for a change of strategy and headed the Umkhonto We Sizwe (Spear of the Nation), which became the armed wing of the ANC.
In 1962, he was once again arrested with a number of his colleagues on charges of conspiracy to bring down the regime through violence.
In his defense plea before the Pretoria Supreme Court in 1964, known as the Rivonia Trial, Mandela denounced the illegitimate government which sentenced him to life imprisonment. He stated, "The lack of human dignity experienced by Africans is the direct result of the policy of white supremacy (...) Legislation is designed to preserve such supremacy (...) Above all, we want equal political rights (…) I know this sounds revolutionary to whites in this country, because the majority of voters will be Africans. This makes the white man fear democracy…"
"During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die," he affirmed.
After spending 27 years incarcerated in the harshest conditions – 18 in solitary confinement on Robben Island, the damp conditions of which badly affected his health – the then President of South Africa Frederik De Klerk released Mandela. During the period through February 1990 many governments and ant-racist movements had been demanding the liberation of the South African leader, who had become a universal symbol of emancipation and human dignity.
In 1991 he visited Cuba and was presented with the José Martí Order granted by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro. On that occasion, Fidel emphasized his integrity and affirmed, "Mandela is one the most extraordinary symbols of this era."
Mandela took part in negotiations to establish a multiracial democracy in South Africa, a dream which became reality in 1994 with the first universal suffrage elections in the country, and was elected President of the Republic.
During his 1994-1999 government, he made every effort to achieve reconciliation among South Africans and contributed to the end of various conflicts on the African continent. He was named Father of the Nation and received countless international acknowledgements for his profoundly humanist thinking.
After retiring from politics, Mandela continued promoting social programs which contributed to consolidating racial peace in South Africa, a country which – according to current President Jacob Zuma – will be eternally grateful to him.

CUBA STANDS FOR DIALOGUE AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF GOOD RELATIONS WITH THE U.S.

CUBA – for dialogue and improving relations with the United States ...

This was announced by the country's leader Raul Castro at the last meeting of the State Council on December 21.
"In recent years we have been able to consult on issues of mutual interest. We believe that it is possible to solve other questions, to establish civilized relations between the two countries, which is what our people want and the vast majority of U.S. citizens, as well as Cuban emigration. (Among Cuban U.S. intelligence services are the most consistent enemies of socialism. Among immigrants are selected members for carrying out terrorist attacks and sabotage against Cuba, while another part of Cuban exiles – are wealthy capitalists, businessmen linked to the Mafia – who finance terrorist activities against Cuba. It is clearl who in these circumstances may want Cuban emigration - Ed.) .
We do not demand the United States change its political and social system, and can not agree to discuss changes in our system. If indeed there is an interest in developing bilateral relations, we must learn to respect our differences, and learn to live with them. Only in this way. Otherwise, we are ready to live another 55 years under the same conditions" - quoted the Cuban leader to RIA Novosti.
Attention to the Cuban- American relations was attracted by the handshake between Raul Castro and Barack Obama on December 10 during the farewell ceremony with Nelson Mandela.
Fidel Castro, in turn, commented on the historic handshake: "I congratulate Comrade Raul with a brilliant deed, especially with the firmness and dignity with which he in a kind but firm gesture greeted the head of U.S. government, telling him in English: "Mr. President, I am Castro."
A new article by the leader of the Cuban Revolution titled "Mandela died. Why hide the truth about apartheid?" was posted December 19 by the media on the Island of Freedom. The Russian media quoted only individual fragments.
"No event past or present, that I would remember or have heard about has so influenced the world public opinion as much as the death of Mandela, not because of his wealth, but for his human qualities, noble ideas and feelings" - Fidel Castro says.
Mandela was "... a solid man, a deep revolutionary and convinced socialist, who with great stoicism endured 27 years of solitary confinement. I never ceased to admire his honesty, humility and enormous merit, "- said Castro. The role of the Cuban delegation headed by Chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers Raul Castro, who took part in the funeral ceremony for " brother and friend " Nelson Mandela " will be unforgettable ."
"Why try to hide the fact that the apartheid regime which made Africa suffer so much and caused outrage among the vast majority of nations around the world, was the fruit of colonial Europe, and has been converted into a nuclear power by the U.S. and Israel which Cuba openly condemns?" - asks Castro.
