IN THE ROSTOV REGION A BUST OF J.V. STALIN OPENED

On December 21, the day of the 137th anniversary of the birth anniversary of J.V. Stalin, in the village of Kujbyshevo in Rostov region, a monument of J.V. Stalin was unveiled

The fate of this monument is unusual. In 1941, it was hidden in the retreat of the Red Army soldiers. Risking their lives, our soldiers under the noses of the Germans lowered the sculpture of the leader into a well. After the war, the bust was long been considered lost. We found it by accident – said the participants of the search association "Mius-Front". Today, the monument to the Supreme Commander Stalin has been remodelled and installed on the historic site.
The funds for the installation of the bust of Stalin were collected from across the world. Money was donated by either farmers or veterans or ordinary workers. At the opening ceremony of the monument to Stalin flowers and a wreath were laid.

Agitation picket and laying flowers to the portrait J.V. Stalin

On December 21, in the village of Ilsky in the Seversky district of Krasnodar region, local activists of the AUCPB held a picket at the monument to Vladimir Lenin laying fresh flowers to the portrait of Stalin and a picket dedicated to the 137th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Stalin.
At the picket we distributed the newspaper "Bolshevik Hammer and Sickle" and thematic leaflets to the citizens of the village.

In laying flowers, the Veterans Council participated with us, children of war and other organizations. In deference to Stalin, we are together photographed on a background of colorful banners with symbols of Soviet Bolsheviks.
Stalin, like Lenin - lived, lives and will live!
Long Live Joseph Stalin, his teachings and the banner!

In Arkhangelsk a monument to Stalin unveiled

In Arkhangelsk on December 24 a monument to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was unveiled. The monument with a height of almost 3 meters was installed in the yard of the business center on Gagarin street, on private property, as the city authorities were opposed to the perpetuation of the memory of Stalin in Arkhangelsk.

Stalin's bust is made of bronze by a sculptor from St. Petersburg, on a granite pedestal depicts the Order of the "Victory".

An outstanding Korean leader

By New Worker correspondent

Millions of communists in Korea and all over the world recalled the outstanding achievements of dear leader Kim Jong Il at events to mark the 5th anniversary of his passing on 17th December 2011 last weekend.
London Korean solidarity activists, including NCP leader Andy Brooks, presented floral tributes during a ceremony at the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) embassy in London on Saturday 17th December hosted by the new ambassador Comrade Choe Il. Other bouquets were laid by Michael Chant and Chris Coleman from the RCPB(ML) and Dermot Hudson from the Korean Friendship Association (KFA).

Following in Kim Il Sung’s footsteps, Kim Jong Il led the Workers Party of Korea into the 21st century to build a strong and prosperous democratic republic. Kim Jong Il was a leading Marxist thinker who made an important contribution to modern communist theory, as well as an astute statesman who led the Korean people through thick and thin to overcome natural disasters, imperialist blockade and diplomatic isolation.

Kim Jong Il made an immense contribution to Marxist-Leninist theory and ideology. In his 1982 work On the Juché Idea, Kim Jong Il brought together and systematised the Juché theory; his 1994 thesis Socialism is a Science affirmed that socialism would eventually become the economic system of the entire world because it is the only form of society in which people can be truly free.

Kim Jong Il worked tirelessly to ease tension on the Korean peninsula to pave the way towards the peaceful reunification of Korea whilst at the same time ensuring the DPRK’s defence against the threats and provocations of US imperialism and its lackeys.

On 15th June 2000 dear leader Kim Jong Il and President Kim Dae Jung of south Korea signed the historic North–South Joint Declaration. This was an historic landmark in the struggle of the Korean people to reunify their homeland that had forcibly been divided by the US imperialists following the Second World War. The Declaration opened up a new era for independence, peace, reconciliation and reunification on the Korean peninsula until the US-sponsored anti-national and anti-communist Lee Myung Bak clique in the south began to sabotage its spirit and principles.
US imperialism can never forgive the DPRK for being the first country since the second world war to defeat it on the battlefield, setting an example for all people fighting for independence and self-determination. Its revenge continues unabated to this day.

The Americans and their south Korean lackeys are working constantly to try to isolate the DPRK and the movement for national reunification. Peace campaigners and trade unionists have been jailed under south Korea’s fascist National Security Law whilst the joint US–south Korean military exercises aimed at invading the DPRK take the Korean peninsula ever closer to a cataclysmic nuclear war.

The DPRK has had no alternative but to develop a nuclear deterrent to defend its socialist system. At the same time it has pledged that it will never be the first to use nuclear weapons, and it has also vowed never to threaten the use of nuclear weapons nor allow the transfer of nuclear technology to other countries.
Kim Jong Il was a great leader of the Korean people who devoted his entire life to serving the Korean people in the cause of building a human-centred society, a cause that is one espoused by the democratic and anti-imperialist forces the world over.

The eternal memory of Kim Jong Il

Saturday, 17 December 2016

by New Worker correspondent

Friends and comrades returned to the Marchmont Centre in London last Saturday to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the passing away of dear leader Kim Jong Il who devoted his life to serving the Korean people. Organised by the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) speakers included Dermot Hudson of the KFA, Shaun Pickford and Alex Meads. Kim Song Gi, Minister Counsellor from the DPR Korea embassy also spoke while New Communist Party national chair Alex Kempshall delivered a solidarity message during the meeting.

Dear leader Kim Jong Il died at his post, whilst on a train giving on-the-spot guidance, on 17th December 2011. His entire life had been dedicated the revolutionary movement that was founded by Kim Il Sung, and the young militants around him, to fight the Japanese colonialists and build a modern communist party that would lead the Korean workers and peasants to a new life under socialism. Building a guerrilla army that took on the might of the Japanese Empire, great leader Kim Il Sung mobilised the masses in a struggle that ended in victory in 1945 and the establishment of a people’s government in the north of the country.

The Workers’ Party of Korea, with Kim Il Sung at the helm, led the battle for land reform, education and socialist construction in the 1950s and 1960s, and then pushed forward on the engineering, technical and scientific fronts to build a modern socialist republic where every individual worker is master of his or her own life. The DPRK stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the peoples of the Third World struggling to break the chains of colonialism, and gave technical and economic aid to their new republics to defend their freedom and independence.
From an early age Kim Jong Il worked side by side with Kim Il Sung, and when Kim Il Sung passed away Kim Jong Il told the Korean people and the world that they could “expect no change from him”.

Under his leadership the Workers’ Party of Korea won even more great victories. Natural disasters were overcome. Imperialist diplomatic isolation was broken and the intrigues of US imperialism were exposed. Scientists in Democratic Korea mastered the secrets of the atom to guarantee the DPRK’s defence and energy needs, and now Korean rockets reach for the stars.

Now led by Kim Jong Un, the Korean people are following in the footsteps of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to overcome all obstacles to fulfil the revolutionary tasks that faced the Korean people when they began their long march to socialism in the struggle against Japanese imperialism.

From the Editor

The opening of California in Moscow - this is not a "joke" and not an invention of eccentrics who do not know what to do.

This is a direct consequence of the arbitrary division of the land on our planet, which was committed by the imperialists of Britain, France, Germany, USA, etc. during the colonial conquests of territories of independent national entities, during which ended up two Irelands, two Koreas, two Vietnams, and a huge, number of forty million Kurdish people who do not have a national state.

For example, the current territory of the USA is the result of aggressive wars with France by the Yankees (Louisiana), Mexico (Texas), Spain (Puerto Rico, Guantanamo), and Russia grabbed a decent piece (Alaska). In the context of a unipolar world that emerged after the collapse of the USSR, many peoples of the world are in a fierce struggle for the preservation of their national identity, for the creation of their national states for scrapping the shameful legacy of the colonial system.

In Moscow in the autumn of this year and last year we hosted a representative conference of leaders of the anti-globalization movement under the slogan "Dialogue of nations. The right of peoples to self-determination and the construction of a multi-polar world "in which there were representatives of the separatist movements of California, Texas, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic, Hawaii, Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The main thing is what was advocated by delegates in their speeches - the right of peoples to self-determination, the struggle against Western imperialism and aggression.

December 17, the DPRK Memorial Day of Great Kim Jong Il

Five years ago, on December 17, the great Kim Jong Il died - one of the most prominent public and political figures of the late XX - early XXI century, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, Marshal of the DPRK. The Workers' Party of Korea, named him forever its Secretary General.

Throughout his life, Comrade Kim Jong Il devoted everything to the service of his people. Over the years, under his leadership the DPRK stepped forward a long way in the development of self-sufficient economy, a significant improvement in the social situation of citizens, grand residential construction in urban and rural areas, to strengthen the defense capability and power of armed forces in the development of science, education, achievements in world sport in improving professional health care. And it's in a constant state of severe economic blockade by the imperialist forces of the world in the first place – by the USA.

Coherent theory of the Juche idea, Kim Jong Il formulated on the basis of abstracts of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, which is the DPRK state ideology, the fundamental theory of building socialism with Korean characteristics.
Kim Jong Il developed an original theory of the Songun revolution, became the leadership in the organization of reliable protection of the country's sovereignty and the nation, in a consistent upholding of the independence of Korea. The correctness and great vitality of the Songun policy line is strongly supported by life itself.

Under Kim Jong-il, the DPRK was declared a nuclear power in the world, created by the genius of Korean scientists their nuclear weapons, thus safely protect themselves from the US provocation, blackmail and threats of pre-emptive nuclear strike. Over the 40 years of leadership of the country, Kim Jong-il was in a US hard confrontation and actually demonstrated to the world its ability to survive in extreme conditions, under a diverse world imperialist blockade. During the leadership of Kim Jong-il also will be included in Korean history as the years of all-round development of the country, the population of high patriotism and sustained action by the leadership in advancing the issue of unity of the Korean nation divided by US imperialism..

In an ever-initiated escalation of the situation on the Korean peninsula, pushing the South Korean authorities towards irresponsible attacks against the DPRK and its leadership, the US has been trying to provoke a response by the DPRK, which the U.S has been unable to fulfil

We the AUCPB welcome restraint and a high sense of responsibility for the fate of the world and self-esteem by the Leadership of the DPRK - not to succumb to any retaliatory acts of provocation and to continue the successful path of the country to the goal - the creation of a prosperous powerful socialist state.

We welcome the domestic and foreign policy of the DPRK pursued by the successor of the Great Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un, continuing the political course of his great predecessors - the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and Great Kim Jong Il,.

We wish the people of the DPRK continued success in building a peaceful prosperous socialist state.

Remarks by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, during the political posthumous tribute to Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz

Remarks by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, during the political posthumous tribute to Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, in Santiago de Cuba’s Plaza Mayor General Antonio Maceo Grajales, December 3, 2016, “Year 58 of the Revolution”
(Council of State transcript)
Esteemed Heads of State and Government;
Outstanding figures;
Compatriots here today in representation of the eastern provinces and Camagüey;
People of Santiago de Cuba;

Dear people of Cuba:
This afternoon, upon arrival to the heroic city, the funeral procession transporting Fidel’s ashes, which retraced in reverse the route of the Caravan of Liberty of 1959, and visited emblematic sites in Santiago de Cuba, birthplace of the Revolution where, just as in the rest of the country, it was met with demonstrations of love by the Cuban people.
Tomorrow, his ashes will be laid to rest in a simple ceremony in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, located very close to the Mausoleum of National Hero José Martí; his compañeros in the struggle at Moncada, from the Granma, and Rebel Army, from the clandestine campaign and internationalist missions.

The tombs of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, father of the homeland, and the legendary Mariana Grajales, mother of the Maceo brothers and, daring to improvise in this act, also the mother of all Cuban men and women, are located just a few feet away. Also close by is the pantheon where the remains of the unforgettable Frank País García rest; a young man from Santiago, murdered by Batista’s henchmen at only 22 years of age, one month after his younger brother Josué died fighting in an operation in this city. Frank’s age didn’t stop him from accumulating an exemplary trajectory of resistance against the dictatorship, in which he stood out as leader of the armed uprising in Santiago de Cuba, on November 30, 1956, in support of the landing of the Granma expedition, as well as his decisive role in organizing the sending of weapons and combatants to the nascent Rebel Army in the Sierra Maestra.

Ever since the news of the passing of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, late on the evening of November 25, pain and sadness have overwhelmed the Cuban people who, deeply moved by his irreparable physical disappearance, have shown integrity, patriotic conviction, discipline, and maturity by attending, en mass, the tribute activities organized, and swearing to uphold the oath of loyalty to the conception of Revolution, articulated by Fidel on May 1, 2000. November 28 and 29, millions of compatriots signed their names in support of the Revolution.
Amidst the pain of these days we have once again felt pride and comfort in the outstanding reactions of children and young Cubans, who reaffirm their willingness to be committed continuators of the ideals of the leader of the Revolution.
On behalf of our people, the Party, State, government, and family members, I reiterate our most heartfelt thanks for the innumerable displays of respect and affection toward Fidel, his ideas and his work, which continue to arrive from all corners of the globe.

Faithful to Martí’s philosophy that “all the glory in the world fits into a kernel of corn,” the leader of the Revolution rejected any manifestation of a cult of personality, and remained true to this position until the last hours of his life, insisting that, after his death, his name and likeness never be used to designate institutions, plazas, parks, avenues, streets, or other public spaces, nor monuments, busts, statues, and other such tributes be erected.
In accordance with compañero Fidel’s decision, during the next period of sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power, we will present necessary legislative proposals to ensure his will is upheld.

Our dear friend Bouteflika, President of Algeria, rightly said that Fidel possessed the extraordinary ability to travel into the future, return, and explain it. On July 26, 1989, in the city of Camagüey, the Comandante en Jefe predicted, two-and-a-half years in advance, the disappearance of the Soviet Union and socialist camp, and stated before the world that if this were the case, Cuba would continue to defend the banner of socialism.
Fidel’s authority and his close relationship with the people were key to the country’s heroic resistance during the dramatic years of the Special Period, when the nation’s Gross Domestic Product fell 34.8% and the Cuban people’s food situation deteriorated significantly, we suffered blackouts lasting 16 to 20 hours a day, and a good part of our industry and public transport was paralyzed. Despite this however, we were able to safeguard public health and education for the entire nation.

I recall the Party meetings in the different regions: east, in the city of Holguín; central, in the city of Santa Clara; and west in the capital of the Republic, Havana, held in July 1994 to analyze how to tackle, with greater efficiency and cohesion, the challenges of the special period, the growing imperialist blockade and media campaigns geared toward sowing despair among citizens. We all left theses meetings, including the one held in the western region, presided by Fidel, convinced that with the combined strength and intelligence of the masses under the leadership of the Party, it would, and was, possible to transform the special period into a new victorious battle in the country’s history.
At that time few in the world would have bet on our ability to resist and overcome in the face of adversity and the intensification of the enemy blockade. Our people, however, under the leadership of Fidel, provided an unforgettable lesson in resolve and loyalty to the principles of the Revolution.

Recalling these difficult moments, I think it right and fitting to return to what I said about Fidel on July 26, 1994, one of the most difficult years, on the Isle of Youth, over 22 years ago, I quote: “The most illustrious son of Cuba this century, he who showed us that the attempt to capture the Moncada Garrison was possible; that we were able to turn that loss into a victory,” which we achieved five years, five months. and five days later, on that glorious January 1 of 1959 - this last comment added to the words I spoke on that occasion (Applause).

He showed us, “Yes, it was possible to reach the coast of Cuba in the Granma yacht; that yes, it was possible to resist the enemy, hunger, rain and cold, and organize a revolutionary army in the Sierra Maestra following the Alegría de Pío debacle; that yes, it was possible to open new guerilla fronts in the province of Oriente, with ours and Almeida’s columns; that yes, it was possible to defeat the great offensive of over 10,000 soldiers with only 300 rifles,” after which Che wrote in his Campaign Diary, that with this victory the backbone of the army of the tyranny had been broken: “That yes, it was possible to repeat the feats of Maceo and Gómez, extending with Che and Camilo’s columns the struggle from the east to the west of the island; that yes, it was possible to defeat, with the support of the entire people, the tyranny of Batista, backed by U.S. imperialism.

“The man that showed us that yes, it was possible to defeat in 72 hours,” or even less, “the mercenary invasion of Playa Girón and at the same time, continue the campaign to eradicate illiteracy in one year,” as was happened in 1961.
“That yes, it was possible to proclaim the socialist character of the Revolution 90 miles from the empire, and when its warships advanced toward Cuba, following the brigade of mercenary troops; that yes, it was possible to resolutely uphold the inalienable principles of our sovereignty, without fear of the threat of nuclear aggression by the United States in those days of the October 1962 missile crisis.

“That yes, it was possible to offer solidarity assistance to other sister peoples struggling against colonial oppression, external aggression and racism.

“That yes, it was possible to defeat the racist South Africans, saving Angola’s territorial integrity, forcing Namibia’s independence and delivering a harsh blow to the apartheid regime.

“That yes, it was possible to turn Cuba into a medical power, reduce infant mortality first, to the lowest rate in the Third World, then as compared with other rich countries; because at least on this continent our rate of infant mortality of children under one year of age is lower than Canada’s and United States (Applause), and at the same time, significantly increase the life expectancy of our population.

“That yes, it was possible to transform Cuba into a great scientific hub, advance in the modern and decisive felids of genetic engineering and biotechnology; insert ourselves within the fortress of international pharmaceuticals; develop tourism, despite the U.S. blockade; build causeways in the sea to make Cuba increasingly more attractive, obtaining greater monetary income from our natural charms.

“That yes, it is possible to resist, survive, and develop without renouncing our principles or the achievements won by socialism in a unipolar world dominated by the transnationals which emerged after the fall of the socialist camp in Europe and the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

“Fidel’s enduring lesson is that yes it is possible, that humans are able to overcome the harshest conditions as long as their willingness to triumph does not falter, they accurately assess every situation, and do not renounce their just and noble principles,” end of quote.

These are the words that I expressed more than two decades ago about a man, who, following the first disastrous battle at Alegría de Pío - which the day after tomorrow will celebrate its 60th anniversary - never lost faith in victory, and 13 days later, already in the mountains of the Sierra Maestra, on December 18 of the aforementioned year, with seven rifles and a fist full of combatants, stated: “Now we have won the war! (Applause and shouts of “Fidel, Fidel! That’s Fidel!”).

This is the undefeated Fidel that brings us together through his example and demonstration that, Yes, it was possible, yes, it is possible, and yes, it will be possible! (Applause and shouts of “Yes, we can!”). So, I repeat that he demonstrated that yes, it was possible, yes, it is possible, and yes, it will be possible to overcome any obstacle, threat or disturbance in our resolute effort to build socialism in Cuba, or in other words guarantee the independence and sovereignty of the homeland! (Applause).

Before Fidel’s remains, in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Antonio Maceo Grajales, in the heroic city of Santiago de Cuba, we swear to defend the homeland and socialism! (Shouts of “We swear!”) And together we all reaffirm that expressed by the Bronze Titan: “Whoever attempts to conquer Cuba, will gather the dust of her blood-soaked soil, if he does not perish in fight! (Shouts)

Fidel, Fidel! ¡Hasta la Victoria! (Shouts of “¡Siempre!) (Shouts of: “Raúl is Fidel! and “¡Raúl, tranquilo, el pueblo está contigo!” (Raúl, don’t worry, the people are with you!).

Hasta la Victoria Siempre!
Poem quoted by Fidel
For this freedom that is the right of the youth
For this freedom
As beautiful as life itself
We will have to give our all
If necessary
Even our shadows
And it will never be enough.

Fidel’s spirit lives on

WE WERE saddened to hear of the passing of Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban revolution, last week.
Fidel led the revolution that freed Cuba from oppression and US neo-colonial slavery to build a new socialist life of prosperity and happiness for the people on the island. Fidel made an important contribution to modern communist theory. He was also an astute statesman who led the Cuban people through thick and thin to withstand US imperialism’s campaign of sabotage, terrorism and blockade and overcome the US-led campaign of diplomatic isolation.
In words and deeds Fidel stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the national liberation movements that broke the chains of colonialism in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He will always be remembered as an outstanding communist leader whose long life was an inspiration to communists all over the world.
Fidel Castro has died but his spirit lives on in the Communist Party of Cuba and the revolutionary will of the Cuban masses. He will never be forgotten.

b) clarify the socio-economic framework of the Constitution in accordance with the current correlation of class forces in the USSR (the creation of a new, socialist industry, the elimination of the kulaks as a social group in the society, the victory of the collective farm system, the approval of socialist property as the basis of Soviet society, and others.).
The constitutional commission was formed under the chairmanship of Joseph Stalin, which was tasked to prepare a draft revised Constitution.

According to the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Central Executive Committee of June 11, 1936 a draft of the new Constitution was published in print for public discussion, which lasted more than five months.

Stalin in his report on the draft Constitution of the USSR at the Extraordinary 8th Congress of Soviets November 25, 1936 gave a profound analysis of the socio-economic conditions that necessitated the adoption of a new Constitution, described the features of the new draft Constitution of the USSR. December 5, 1936 - the day of adoption by Congress of the new Soviet Constitution, which the people once called "Stalin Constitution". This day became a bright national holiday.
A characteristic feature of the Constitution of the USSR in 1936 – the Stalin Constitution - was its consistent and sustained democracy until the end. If a bourgeois constitution only formally declares the rights of citizens, the Constitution of the USSR is not limited to the formal rights of citizens, but to guarantee these rights and spoke clearly about the means of exercising these rights.

The Constitution of the USSR legislated the Soviet social and political system, the principles of organization and activities of the various organs of the Soviet state and the Soviet electoral system. It consolidated the political and economic foundation of the USSR - the socialist system of economy and the socialist ownership of the means of production.
In the USSR Constitution it states: the Soviet Union is a federal state, formed on the basis of the voluntary association of equal Soviet Socialist Republics, USSR laws that have the same force in all the Union republics, and that in the event of discrepancy between a law of a Union Republic from the law,the Union law acts.
Particular attention in the new Soviet Constitution was given to the greatest democratic rights and citizens of the USSR freedoms: the right to work, right to rest, the right to maintenance in old age and also in case of sickness or disability, the right to education, equality of Soviet citizens, regardless of gender and nationality, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly and demonstrations, freedom of street processions and demonstrations, freedom of association in the public organizations and societies of the working people; freedom of conscience.

Proclaiming equal rights for all citizens of the USSR Constitution laid on them the same obligations: the obligation to observe the Constitution, the laws, to comply with labor discipline, honestly to perform public duties, and to respect the rules of socialist society, safeguard and strengthen public, socialist property as the sacred and inviolable foundation of the Soviet system.

The Stalin Constitution was the fundamental law of the life of Soviet society for many subsequent decades. It was taught to children in the schools, it was written about by poets, composers, writers, song writers, and found in poems and stories. Each provision of this historic document was part of the real life of the Soviet people, gave them new strength in the struggle for the realization of ambitious economic and political goals which the indomitable Bolshevik Party placed before them.

Havana, Republic of Cuba

Dear Comrade Raul Castro Ruz!

Dear comrades!

Fidel Castro Ruz was an ardent revolutionary, a communist, an outstanding statesman and politician of the second half of the XX century, distinguished by incredible courage and determination, foresight and clarity of political thought, full of boundless faith in victory and in the strength of the Cuban people. Under the leadership of Fidel Castro, Cuba broke the chains of the American Empire, it became a truly independent socialist state, a sincere friend of the peoples of the Soviet Union.

Fidel Castro made an invaluable contribution to the integration of Latin American countries against the dictates of the United States, was able to stand alone against the United States in conditions of a severe economic, political and diplomatic blockade.

For the peoples of Latin America, Cuba led by Fidel Castro has become a beacon of struggle, an example of courage and perseverance, inspiring them to fight against imperialism and for their independence and the socialist choice of the development of their country.

We wish the people of Cuba, the courage to endure their loss and confidently move forward in building an independent socialist state.

On the morning of December 4, the ashes of the undefeated Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, were laid to rest in Santiago de Cuba’s Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, declared a National Monument given its historic, architectural and cultural value; where a solemn and private ceremony for family members and specially invited guests was held.
As Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Party and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, remarked yesterday evening, December 3, in the city’s plaza Mayor General Antonio Maceo, the Comandante en Jefe of the Cuban Revolution is “very close to the Mausoleum of National Hero José Martí; his compañeros in the struggle at Moncada, from the Granma, and Rebel Army, from the clandestine campaign and internationalist missions.
”The tombs of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, father of the homeland, and the legendary Mariana Grajales, mother of the Maceo brothers and, as I dare to improvise in this act, also the mother of all Cuban men and women, are located just a few feet away. Also close by is the pantheon where the remains of the unforgettable Frank País García rest; a young man from Santiago, murdered by Batista’s henchmen at only 22 years of age, one month after his younger brother Josué died fighting in an operation in this city,” added Raúl.

The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu issued a statement in support of the statement issued by the National Peace Committee of Korea of the DPRK on Friday 2nd of December :
It has recently been revealed that the agreement on protecting military intelligence was concluded between the south Korena puppet fascist regime and the Japanese reactionaries under the backstage manipulation and pressure of the U.S..
This is peharps not a big surprise as the decision to deploy THAAD by the south Korean puppets was made under the pressure of the US imperialists even though neighbouring countries that the south Korean puppets were trying to curry favour with were adamantly opposed to THAAD.
It is very clear that the US imperialists are trying to build a triangular military alliance against the DPRK and also against Russia and China. This proves that the main threat to peace in Asia and the world comes from the US imperialists.
We support the demand of the National Peace Committee of Korea of the DPRK for the US to abandon its anarchonistic and reactionary anti-DPRK policy .We believe that the agreement on protecting military intelligence should be scrapped.

Park Geun Hye must go!

A SINGLE protester outside the Russian embassy or a handful of Arab stooges at a peace rally makes headlines in our national press. A north Korean diplomat defects to the south Korean regime in London and its national news for weeks on end. A few thousand anti-Trump protesters on the streets in the United States hits the headlines all over the western world.

But when over a million south Koreans take to the streets to denounce their corrupt, puppet president and call for her resignation it barely gets a mention in the august pages of the bourgeois media.

Last weekend over a million demonstrators took to the streets of Seoul, the capital of south Korea, to demand that puppet president Park Guen Hye stands down.

Members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), student groups and religious bodies gathered at Seoul Square to hold the 2016 people’s all-out rally. Some 150,000 KCTU members along with students from one hundred universities and people from all walks of life turned out for the protest, the biggest since 1987, and marched to the presidential palace to demand Park Guen Hye’s resignation.

Workers are downing tools throughout the country, which has been occupied by US imperialism since 1945, whilst the KCTU prepares for a general strike to demand Park’s resignation and the release of their leader, jailed for five years on trumped-up charges last year.

Park Guen Hye, the daughter of the former dictator who was shot by a member of his own faction in 1979, heads the reactionary and rabidly anti-communist Saenuri Party that does the bidding of US imperialism. The down-trodden south Korean masses, doubly oppressed by their local exploiters as well as those from the US, are sick to death of this corrupt regime led by Park, a venal politician involved with a shadowy religious cult leader who used her influence over the president to embezzle public funds.

Whilst all of this is going on the masses in the democratic north of the divided Korean peninsula are rallying to the latest call of the Workers Party of Korea to sharpen their defences against imperialism and continue to build socialism in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The DPRK was branded by the American imperialists as part of the “axis of evil”, and one of the “outposts of tyranny” that include Cuba, Syria and Iran, and was topped by Iraq until that country was invaded by US-led imperialism in 2003. The US army and its south Korean puppets rehearse the invasion of the north in annual war-games and the south Koreans have developed a cruise missile of their own targeted on the DPRK.

In the face of these renewed threats the DPRK has had no alternative but to develop a nuclear deterrent to defend its socialist system. At the same time it has pledged that it will never be the first to use nuclear weapons — and it has also vowed never to threaten the use of nuclear weapons nor allow the transfer of nuclear technology to other countries.
Whilst corrupt south Korean politicians grovel to the Americans for their share of the loot the masses in Democratic Korea, with Kim Jong Un at the helm, are relentlessly advancing into the future to build socialism and fulfil the dream of all Koreans, the peaceful re-unification of the country.

RAF out of Korea!

by New Worker correspondent

NEW COMMUNIST Party leader Andy Brooks and other comrades joined demonstrators outside the Ministry of Defence in London last week to protest at the deployment of the RAF in south Korea. The picket, opposite Downing Street, was called by the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) to protest against the participation of British armed forces in war exercises currently taking place in south Korea.

KFA Chair Dermot Hudson said: “We are shocked and outraged by the decision of the British government to send four Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets, Voyager tanker aircraft and C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft to take part in the so-called ‘Invincible Shield’ military exercises of the US imperialists and south Korean puppets against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

“This is just disgraceful. The DPRK poses no military threat to Britain. There is absolutely no need for Britain to become involved in the Korean peninsula. According to official British military statistics 1,000 British soldiers died in Korea during the 1950-53 Fatherland Liberation War. Of course the real numbers are probably much higher than that. But there was no reason for even one British soldier to die in Korea, or indeed, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yugoslavia or northern Ireland.

“It was a war that Britain should have kept out. Now the Government plans to send fighter planes and other aircraft to join anti-DPRK war exercises. There is every danger of a second Korean War that British forces will be dragged into, only this time the casualty rate would be much higher. Britain should stay out of Korea and not repeat the shameful history of the Korean War!”

Korean solidarity in Dublin

Korean solidarity in Dublin

By New Worker correspondent

Dermot Hudson speaking

FOUR MEMBERS of the British Korean Friendship Association (KFA) went to Ireland to attend the 16th KFA International Meeting in Dublin last weekend. The meeting, at the Teachers Club in Parnell Square, was attended by KFA officials and delegates from Europe and the United States.

Andreas Engstrom, the head of KFA Ireland, opened the conference and pointed out that as both Ireland and Korea had been victims of imperialism it was highly significant that that this KFA International Meeting was being held here in Ireland.

The President of the Korean Friendship Association Alejandro Cao De Benos was unable to attend due to the fascistic action of the reactionary Spanish authorities who, at the last minute, refused to let him leave the country. But Alejandro sent a message saying how much the KFA had grown over the past 16 years since the first KFA International meeting in London.

Dermot Hudson, the chair of the UK KFA spoke of the deeds of great leader Kim Il Sung and his successors, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un – the “great generals of Mount Paektu” who led the Workers Party of Korea in building socialism in the northern part of the divided Korean peninsula.

“During my three recent visits in October 2015, April 2016 and September 2016 I saw the reality of Korean-style socialism for myself and the great advances that are being made in all fields, such as the impressive construction of Ryomyong Street. I was proud to be in the DPRK in September when the nuclear warhead was successfully tested on the 9th September DPRK National Day and there was the successful test of the road-launched ICBM.

“The UK KFA will conduct vigorous activities in 2017 to honour the great generals of Mount Paektu. We believe that this a vital task when the pressure and sanctions of the US imperialists and their lackey states becomes more intense, solidarity with People's Korea becomes the order of the day and celebrating the keynote anniversaries of the DPRK assumes a greater significance. We believe it is conducive to defending the DPRK against imperialist attacks."

NCP leader Andy Brooks and other comrades joined the pickets called by the Korean Friendship Association on 20th October at a time of increasing tension on the Korean peninsula.

The protest started at 15:00 outside the south Korean embassy in Westminster and then moved on to the hub of US imperialism in Grosvenor Square to continue the action until 18:20.

Living the Dream in the DPRK

By Dermot Hudson

Living the Dream in the DPRK

I VISITED the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from the 6th September to the 13th September to participate in the International Seminar on the Juche Idea for Anti-Imperialism, Independence and Solidarity. The trip was organised by the Korean Association of Social Scientists (KASS) and the International Institute of the Juche Idea (IIJI) and included the celebrations of the 68th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK, the sacred homeland of Juche!

I made the long journey from London to the DPRK travelling via Beijing. After a 10 hour flight from London I spent one night in Beijing and then proceeded to Pyongyang on Air Koryo. At Beijing Airport I was able to meet Comrade Mikel Vivanko of the Juche Idea Study Group of Spain and KFA Official Delegate for Spain, and also some Juche Idea followers who recognised me from Facebook.

Koryo is a most revolutionary airline, unlike capitalist airlines; the video screens said it was the "flight of Songun Korea". When we flew over the Amnokgang River the stewardess announced that we were flying over the sites of the anti-Japanese revolutionary battlefields where the anti-Japanese guerrillas lie buried. Our plane glided into Pyongyang.

I was met at the airport by the vice-director of KASS and my guide for the visit, Ms Ri from the Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies. She had been my guide in October 2015, and had been a most helpful and kind guide who made me feel at home. I also met the chair of the Writers Union of Korea at the airport.

Although some parts of Korea had been affected by floods, the situation in Pyongyang was quite normal. Looking out of the window of the bus I could see abundant and lush crops of rice and maize growing well in the fields. Later, on the road to the Pyongyang golf course, I also saw fine crops that were beautiful to look at. There was no sign of the crop failure or famine that the lying imperialist media continually claim exist in the DPRK. Indeed, living standards in the DPRK are continuously improving. The DPRK is pushing ahead with massive construction projects such as Ryomyong Street.

When I visited the DPRK in April, Ryomyong Street had simply been flat ground with many construction lorries running up and down. But this time I saw futuristic buildings towering high into the sky; they looked totally out of this world. When the DPRK build streets these are as big as small cities and house up to 20,000 people. The streets have not only apartments but also shops, service facilities and even hospitals. The flats are given to people free of charge – something Londoners could only dream of. Housing construction was also evident in the rural areas.

Pyongyang is a city of construction and People's Korea is a country of construction. It is amazing that the DPRK is capable of such large scale construction. In London it is said that it costs £150,000 to build one flat (which is then sold for up to £500,000 or more) so the cost of building 20,000 flats would be at least £3 billion!

This shows a number of things: firstly, that the DPRK is putting the people first and investing huge amounts of funds in raising living standards; secondly, the DPRK is also carrying out massive defence construction including the bolstering of the nuclear deterrent – this is the dual line of building up the economy and nuclear force in parallel. Only Juche Korea can carry out such a line.

In the past the revisionist USSR put emphasis on defence build-up but was unable to maintain a high level of economic growth. They asserted that it was impossible to develop the economy and defence in parallel. This is not true of course, as the experience of the DPRK proves. The USSR failed to maintain the building of both the economy and defence because of the malady of modern revisionism and lack of militant anti-imperialist spirit.

In the DPRK the massive construction is being carried out in the face of sanctions by the US imperialists and their executive enforcement agency, the UN Security Council, as well as other imperialists and big power chauvinists. The great self-development first idea and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance enable the Korean people to carry out a high level of construction, despite the sanctions.

Dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un said that the construction of Ryomyong Street would deal a blow against the sanctions and blockade of the imperialist reactionaries. The self-development first idea is a contemporary application of the great Juche idea and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. Some reactionaries and class enemies maintain that People's Korea should abandon Juche and adopt "reform" and "opening up". Such a course would be worse than death. Those countries that adopted "reform" and "opening up" have suffered disaster, despair, crisis and conflict.

During the period of my visit, Juche Korea carried out its 5th nuclear test, on the 9th of September, fully displaying the spirit of Juche and self-reliance. It was an act of militant anti-imperialism that defied the sanctions, blockades and threats of the US imperialists and their followers, as well as the big power chauvinists, revisionists and class enemies. I saw on TV the veteran DPRK news announcer Ri Chun Hee announce the nuclear test. Earlier, on 6th September, the DPRK had conducted the most impressive test of a road-launched Inter Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). Both the ICBM test and nuclear test dealt heavy blows against US imperialism. I feel excited to be in the DPRK at a time when the DPRK conducted these tests.

Anti-Imperialism, Independence and Solidarity were the themes of the International Seminar on the Juche Idea, attended by delegates from Spain, Germany, Britain, Russia, Italy, Sri-Lanka, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Uganda, Democratic Congo and Japan. The seminar was presided over by Dr Harish Gupta of the IIJI and was held in the presence of comrade Kim Ki Nam, vice-chair of the Workers Party of Korea (WPK). The speeches were very lively and militant, with diverse opinions given on the situations in various countries but with overall unity around the Juche Idea and Songun Idea. Of particular note were the speeches by Dmitri Kostenko of Russia, by Mikel Vivanko of Spain, Mr Jain of India and one of the Nepalese delegates.

We had excellent video lectures on human rights, the dual line of building the economy and defence in parallel, and Korean folk traditions, which had been prepared by KASS. These lectures proved very useful and increased greatly my understanding of the DPRK. We will share them amongst our members.

We were also given an excellent lecture by Professor Mun Jong Suk on the 7th Congress of the WPK. This lecture was packed full of information. I learnt a lot about the self-development first idea of the DPRK – for example that the DPRK even produces its own sugar Okdang from maize. Truly the DPRK is the most self-reliant country in the world that can stand on its own two feet.

I had the honour of meeting with vice-chair Kim Ki Nam of the WPK twice during my visit. I was also happy to pay a visit to my old friends at the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic front of south Korea, which is headed by veteran south Korean revolutionary comrade Zo Il Min.

We had excellent discussions and my hosts showed me two excellent videos, which I enjoyed. We had detailed discussions on the struggle and I met the comrades from the Korean Committee For Cultural Relations and had cordial discussions. The KASS organised a wonderful Joint Friendship Gathering for us at the Pyongyang Golf Course. This consisted of some sports games, then a barbecue and picnic lunch, rounded off by a singing performance.

Sports are a big challenge for me because I have never played any sports since I was at 6th form college 36 years ago. For singing I chose to sing the song the Red Flag, which is common to both Korea and Britain but the Korean version is much faster and differently paced to the British version, which is slow and a bit sombre. In Britain the Red Flag used to be sung at Labour party conferences until arch-traitor Tony Blair banned them from singing it. I think my rendition of the Red Flag was appreciated by the audience. All the foreigners sang the song We will go to Mt Paektu but this was a challenge to me because I think it would take several months for me to learn properly to do the song justice. All Korean people are like professional singers and seem very talented.

On this visit I was able to see the newly constructed Pyongyang Orphans Secondary School on the outskirts of Pyongyang. This has 21 classrooms including an anti-imperialist class education room. It has all the latest facilities and equipment. The school has a massive swimming pool, as well as a multi-use sports hall and a splendid dining room. This dining room did not look like a school dining room at all but like a hotel or a restaurant.

On display in the anti-imperialist class education room were pictures showing the history of US imperialist aggression on Korea. By carrying out anti-imperialist class education the DPRK makes sure that the US imperialists and capitalists do not sneak their ideology into People's Korea. Bourgeois ideology is highly corrosive and poisonous; it can spread insidiously unless resolute and decisive preventive measures are taken. The Pyongyang Orphans School was a good example of the people-oriented policies of the WPK and the dear respected leader Marshal Kim Jong Un.

In capitalist societies orphans are regarded as rejects and outcasts. Children's homes exist in capitalist countries but are fearful places where abuse, physical and sexual, of the children can take place. Usually in my country children who are raised in children's homes become unemployed when they grow up or drift into crime.

DPRK attaches great importance to youth. Recently the 9th Congress of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League (now renamed the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League) was held in the presence of the dear respected leader Marshal Kim Jong Un. On the TV I saw the massive torchlight parade of youth. My guide Ms Ri told me that she had participated in it. A splendid Museum of Youth Movement History has been built in Kwangbok Street. Here we could see how the history of the Korean youth movement developed under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung, Chair Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un.

There were also pictures and relics showing the contribution of anti-Japanese revolutionary heroine Madame Kim Jong Suk to the youth movement. Ms Ri asked me if we have a youth league in Britain, of course the answer is no.

Some political parties maintain small youth leagues and there are organisations such as the Boy Scouts, which are seen as a joke (in the case of the scouts highly discredited because of their founder's support for fascism and numerous paedophile scandals). Only People's Korea has its own mass youth league. The DPRK trusts young people and puts them forward as one of the pillars of society.

We also visited the Kumususan Palace of the Sun, Mangyondae, the Fatherland Liberation War Museum, the Sci-Tech Complex and the Circus. We enjoyed an excellent art performance at the splendid Pyongwha Art Theatre, which I had never been to before. The performance was based on the legendary Korean song Aririang. I liked the Songun Aririang and the piece about Generalissimo Kim Jong Il ascending the steep Chol pass.

The DPRK is developing excellent cultural facilities for people. I had visited the Pyongyang Zoo four years ago in 2012 but was surprised by the change this time. I did not recognise the entrance to the Zoo, which had totally changed. The Zoo has been reconstructed and expanded; it is very modern with a nature museum. Visitors can also observe fish at close quarters because you can actually walk through a transparent passage that is under water. There are electric cars to ferry visitors around the zoo, thus affording great convenience to people. Ms Ri told me that entrance to the Pyongyang Zoo is nearly free-of-charge so that working people may visit it. But the London Zoo at Regents Park charges £25 for an adult to visit and £29 for a fast track ticket! A ticket for a child costs £17.

In People's Korea of Juche, recreational and cultural facilities are not a means of money making for capitalist parasites but a means of enriching the cultural and emotional lives of the people. The DPRK is pursuing a genuine people-oriented policy thanks to the Juche Idea and the leadership of the dear respected leader Marshal Kim Jong Un.

was deeply impressed by the hospitality shown by the Korean people. I was given a big hotel room that seemed bigger than my residence (which is 50 square metres) and had a balcony from which I could see Mirae Scientists Street and even glimpse the River Taedong. My guide, Ms Ri, was very helpful, always working hard to arrange my schedule and did everything possible to make my stay convenient as well as providing some short but good explanations of the Juche Idea.

Everyone was very friendly to me even though I had come from a hostile imperialist country, a country that to my eternal shame even sent troops to fight against People's Korea and to prevent reunification.

Although I have visited the DPRK 12 times, each time I learn something new. Being in the DPRK is like being in a dream – a country where there are no homeless or beggars sleeping in shop doorways or in pedestrian subways; a country without internal conflict or contradictions; a society based on single-hearted unity! I think if I lived in the DPRK I would only miss a cup of British tea and fish and chips, as well as my family and friends.

I was sad to leave People's Korea and return to London. Visiting the DPRK for the 12th time I became convinced that the road I had taken was and is the correct one and that I should not deviate from it. I pledged myself to study the Juche Idea and Songun Idea even more intensely and to carry out our work better.
