WORKERS IN THE KIROV REGION AT THE MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX "MOLOT" SUSPEND WORK

Workers in Kirov region at the military-industrial complex "Molot " suspend operations because of unpaid wages, reports website rborba.ru.

According to chairman of the Kirov workers’ trade union organization for the defense industry, Vitaly Bukharin, work was suspended at two shops in the "Molot"plant.

The reason for the protest was the delay of wages to employees of the enterprise. Now the total amount of debt the company owes to its employees is about 30 million rubles. The last time the striking workers, at "Molot" were paid, was in April 2011.

Union leaders said wages at the plant grow very slowly, and the average is only 12 thousand rubles. This is the lowest among all defense enterprises of the Kirov region.

IN KHARKOV, EMPLOYEES GO ON STRIKE AT THE TROLLEYBUS DEPOT

Employees at Kharkov trolleybus depots recently went on strike. As reported by UNIAN, the head of trade union organization of the enterprise "Gorelectrotrans" Andrei Ilgen, on August 2 not all the employees at the third trolleybus depot turned up to work along with some workers at the second depot . In total, the strike involved 2.5 thousand people.

According Ilgov, the action is precautionary. If the union's demands are not met, then on August 8 anew strike will start.


The strikers are dissatisfied with the division of "Gorelectrotrans" into five communial utilities: the "Saltivske tram depot", "The October tram depot", "2nd trolleybus depot," "third trolleybus depot" and "Gorelektrotransservis." Workers fear that they will lose retirement payand vacation days. In addition, they demand payment of wage arrears, which is about six million hryvnia.

MASS LAYOFFS AS AN ESSENTIAL FEATURE OF CAPITALISM

OIL WORKERS IN KAZAKHSTAN SACKED EN MASSE FOR STRIKING

The court in Aktau refused to reinstate 28 employees of oil companies who were dismissed for taking part in illegal protests, the press service of the Mangistau regional court reports.

"Court number 2 of Aktau dismissed the case of 28 wildcat strikers for reinstatement to their jobs, the recovery of average earnings during the forced absence, compensation for moral damages," - said in a statement.

"The court found that termination of the employment contract was the case on legal grounds, due to the lack of actual complainants in the workplace without excuse for three or more hours per working day (shift)" - the report says.
